    How old?

    Anyway.

    Classic:
Bobbing for apples? water might be an issue if outdoors.
    Making candy apples.
    Donut on a string.

For older 'kids', there's the classic relay race alternating boy-girl-boy-girl where they pass an apple/orange/what have you holding it under their chin.

Relay race using a spoon to fill a pumpkin with popcorn (messy)

    Could fit:
    Sack race
    3 legged race
pin the nose on the jack-o-lantern
    Bean bag toss
Silly dice game where they have to wear huge monster gloves and use a knife and fork to eat a chocolate bar (will explain more if needed)
    Pinata?
    Campfire story?

    uh...

that's all I got off the top of my head.

    tug o war
    cemetary (hide and seek alternative)

    Ok, done now.

edit. ok, just a couple others.

    Decorate your own:

    Popcorn balls
    Rice crispy treats
    sugar cookies
Shrink-a-dinks (spelling, they still have these?)

    Alright, really done now.

If outside have a scavenger hunt or make a scarecrow.
If inside could set up fortune telling booth or play spooky cd and let kids play.
They could watch a Halloween (kid friendly) movie and have a Halloween (popcorn balls, etc) snack.
    What ages are they?

If you dip apples in brown sugar and then put them on a stick and roast them over an open fire, they begin to whistle. The kids usually love that and that is how you know they are ready. I'd stay away from the bobbing with apples though. With all that kids can catch now adays, its never a good idea to have your mouth swishing around in a bucket of water that 20 other kids have swished their mouths. I'm just saying
Linus: You've heard about fury and a woman scorned?
Charlie Brown: Yes, I guess I have.
Linus: Well that is nothing compared to the fury of a woman who has been cheated out of tricks or treats!
