Hi. Fairly new here to the forums. Love the talent here, its helped me greatly with our first haunted trail this past year. I was wondering if anyone has this problem, for those of you who do a haunt... Why on earth would people pay money to go through your haunt and be a total jerk? We had people going through our trail and getting in our haunter faces, calling them names and just being all out jerks. It amazes me as to why you would pay money and act like this.. isn't it suppose to be fun?.. why take the fun out of it for your whole group. I wonder if they were really scared and acted like this to "mask" their fear. Anyone else with this problem?

there is a haunt here in town as well, and they usually have 1 or 2 act up every year as well. sometimes teens on up to middle age. why they act this way i don't know. i do a little free haunt but i don't have as many problems. i guess i had 3 years out of 11 that i had an incident. once they act up they are out for good. that is to bad you had the problem, it not only ruins it for the others in the group, it puts such a damper on the haunters who are doing a lot of effort [and it is a lot of effort]. sometimes i believe it is because they are scared, sometimes because for some reason they think they look tough in front of everyone else, and sometimes because this is just what they're like all the time. round the clock jerks.

I agree with hallorenescene, I think it is because they don't want to let you know you scared them. My son does a Haunted House every year here. We build the frame, enclose it, add electricity, lighting, sound effects, its very involved and one year it was a dad who was actually being the jerk. He went in and tried to ruin it for everyone else trying to let everyone know where everyone was hiding. His wife was was furious with him. There is always someone who tries to ruin it, just try to focus on the ones who really get a kick out of it and tell you how much they appreciated your hard work. There was this one kid in the neighborhood who was a real jerk to my son last year, I hope he comes around this year, we have a little something special planned just for him
HEE HEE HEE!!!

My experience is very similar to that of Hallorenescene, huge numbers of visitors, but only a tiny minority of jerks over the years. We had a large display outside that was not monitored (the REAL fun was inside) and had a few props damaged. So the next year we hired a High School Football Team to act as "Security". They were all dressed up as Zombies, and they certainly did keep the crowd under control. BUT. They brought their girlfriends and booze, and we ended up with a bunch of large drunken teen-aged Zombies roaming around in the fog in the graveyard. But nobody touched a thing.
More kids showed up to be Zombies than were invited, and I spent a small fortune on Pizza and soda at the end of the night.Wolfman

Had the problem at six flags all the time. People just try to act tough by being a-holes. All I would do if I couldn't scare someone, I would be a jerk to them. For instance here what happened to me one time. This guy comes up to me and says "Your not scary." and I think to myself Oh great, so I say in my creepy voice "Just wait till you see whats to come" the guy says "What ever I've seen scarier" At this moment I get anoyed and say "Oh really, like your face in the mirror? Hahaha!" It was great. But take note I was up on a platform about 4 or 5 feet of the ground with a barrier around me. Therfor I could piss people of and they can't touch me!! oh and it turned out the guy almost pee'd his pants at the dead chick with a chain saw.
Can you stake my heart?

I don't know why some people have to be jerks, either trying to impress upon their group that they are cool, too cool to be scared, or what, sometimes they are just plain A$$holes, and love to be jerks. Hopefully that is kept to a minimum and most people enjoy it!

Had that problem with a kid getting in my face. He really thought he had me...until I growled.
Haven't seen him since. I've added some big boys to my crew to help with problems so I am hoping that wont be an issue anymore.

Same thing happened to me last year...but at a haunt I paid to go to with my 2 buys...their first haunt. While sitting in the haywagon going through the trails... had a few late teeners, maybe early twenties or so cursing very loud, and being total smart alleks... I said something to them about keeping it quiet because I had my 2 boys with me, but that worked for about 5 minutes... then they started it again and again...getting into the faces of the characters in costumes, yelling obsenities at everyone.
I should have asked for my money back...next year, if it happens again, I will... They ruin it for everyone.
Wish I had an answer for ya.Why rule the living when you can control the dead.

cmg, that is too bad. maybe before you go through this year you can just quietly mention to the ticket taker [in a very friendly manner] what happened last year. maybe this will help and it will prepare them for an alternative action. the first year it happened to me i wasn't prepared. now i just escort them out. they are not allowed in again. spooky mama, what do you have planned? maybe it could assist us all. i just don't allow the trouble makers back in, not even the next year. gd, that is cool, but, just be careful, we don't want anything to happen to you.
