Tiki Torches are CENTRAL to my theme:
Need some opinions...
Specifically 5' bamboo torches. (to keep the flame well away from ones too young to know no better, none of the 4' suckers) And a minimum of a 4 hour oil capacity.
The past 4 years, Walmart, Target, and Shopko have all had Tiki brand torches in little 4 packs that start the year at $10. I'ld wait till they hit sales to $8.00 or less, and buy a couple packs each year.
My problem is, no one seems to be carrying these this year. With the normal wear, I'm needing to replace a couple from 4 years ago, and we were going to extend to the full back yard as well. Walmart is carrying NOTHING. Target has switched to their own brand by the looks of it, for min of $5 to start the year. Lowes has fancy versions of the Tiki brand for $5 and up. I've seen glass canisters, copper, whatever. Online has proved no better as it seems there's a minimum buy of 24, I only need about 10, and the best price I can find on that is $3 ea. Combined, that would be much more than I was budgetting to spend on torches this year. I just want the old generic bamboo torch. I prefer the fiberglass wicks, but will deal with cotton.
Heck even big lots wants $5+, and the thrift store had some with a $4 price tag on em! Maybe I've been a bit spoiled the last few years, but I can't believe price has more than doubled in one year.
So, in your travels, keep an eye out for torches, will ya? And give me a holler if anyone finds any.
I might just end up trying my hand at making my own as well. I can get a proper size bamboo pole for about $1, and a spare canister for about $1.50. The whole slit top and weave thing cant be THAT hard, right?

I know that Garden Ridge has aisles upon aisles of torches this year but I haven't paid enough attention to know what they are charging for them. Might want to check it out though.

Our Target just had some on clearance for like $5.00 for 4 of them. You may want to check around. Are you looking for the small ones or the 5 foot tall ones? I can take a look.

Have you tried Pier One?
My boss just bought some for our store here in Las Vegas.
I do not think they were that expensive.Wyatt Furr

And rental places carry them (at least our local one does) and maybe they would give you a decent price since October is an "off" season for those things. If I find any around here, I'll be in touch, I wouldn't mind mailing them to you.

If you dont hae any luck finding torches send me a PM. I have over a dozen of them in the attic of my workshop and if you want them and are willig to pay the shppig they are yours. I used them the Halloween before last but I no longer want to deal with the whole fuel/fire thing. I picked mine up at Michaels at the end of the summer for right around $1.50ea.

Only fancy copper and wrought iron suckers for $7 or more.
The only one that had some wanted $4.99 ea.Believe it or not try your local goodwill stores. I'm not in need of any, but when I was searching for an an old wedding recently I saw them every now and then at the good will stores
Will keep checking over the summer.

The local Michaels hadn't had em in stock as of yet. As for shipping, depends on how much that would wind up.If you dont hae any luck finding torches send me a PM. Shopko had some within reason but are not stocking many at all. If I'm unable to find anything on clearance, I'll probably end up just spacing em all out more, making everything a bit darker, then budget in one of those bulk orders for next year.
