Aside from the skull, most hide very well, mostly because you're not looking for them when you look at him. Here's a pic of mine which is only stained and you can't really see any bolts. Good luck corpsifying!!

I agree with HH - once you stain them, they're not very noticeable. Here's some fresh out of being stained - only. If you're going to corpsify them, I dont' think you'll see much at all, if anything.

A friend of mine told me how to do this. Fill up a big storage container (that you don't want) with water. Then add about a quart of oil-based (yes, oil based) stain. I used walnut color. Then you put on gloves and lousy clothes and let the buckys swim! You just keep submerging them until they're coated. Doesn't take long at all-a minute or less. Then hang them up and hose them off. If you hose too much off, just dip them again. We used about 1 1/2 qts of stain to do 6 buckys. It's just really messy work and cleanup, but takes no time at all.

Wow, that is a quick way to do it, as opposed to staining and wiping it off. Is there any concern for corrosion with the hardware since they're being soaked in water? I'm not sure what the hardware is made of.

HH - oh my gosh, you have no idea how much less time! I was really surprised. I did 2 buckys by hand (with the gel stain) the other day and each one took at least an hour and a half. It took less time to do 6 with the water/stain routine. It doesn't soak for long - literally a minute or two. None of the hardware on mine have rusted or corroded at all. To me it's very worthwhile.
