Hey all,
It's been a while (shortly after last Halloween) since I've been on the board. Of course just like most of you, I'm always thinking of ways to haunt my house for the next year, and I pretty much research all 365 days a year, but the last 4months have been crazy busy and I haven't had much time to stop in.
Anyway, I finally got around to updating my website with pictures from our 2007 Halloween Party. I've incorporated lots of ideas I got on this board including a new cemetery fence, new props, and new lighting for the cemetery compared to previous years. If you go back to pics from 2005 on my site, my decorations were child's play, but last year I got TONS of compliments, many which are directly attributed to this site. I'd have to say that my two favorite additions to the party this year were the 7ft vampire I made in the "haunted library" and the new iron cemetery fence. Thanks to all of you and please check out my website and let me know what you think! There's plenty of links to additional pictures on my site. Make sure you turn up the volume on your computer to enjoy the full experience...

Haunted Host - great pics!! Your house looks great. I love how you lit the upstairs rooms. I really need to do that this year.. it makes the whole place look haunted. Your party and your guests' costumes were great. I also love your inside decor. I can't do that many figures (which stinks) because it scares my kids like crazy. I only had the Gemmy witch in my living room last year and they complained the whole month. The bucky on the hearth is wonderful. Great job!!

Thanks for the kind words all! As I'm sure with most of you, it takes a long time to set up for the party (at least one full week), but I enjoy every second of it. I personally love the cemetery and during the party, any time I see someone go outside for a smoke, fresh air, or just to check out the decor, I always sneak outside with them. It's such a fun atmosphere to walk around in. Michael Myers really spooked some people out because I made him as a fan-head prop.
As for the lighted windows upstairs, unfortunately that still picture doesn't give the full affect. Each of the four windows is lit with a strobe light and each strobe is at a different speed... some faster and others slower. It looks so freakin creepy! Kind of a Poltergeist affect. By chance I took that pic while all were lit at the same time. I have some VERY poor quality and low-light video of it from two years ago, but I wouldn't know how or where to post it here.
My costume last year was Capt Jack Sparrow. That first picture in the guest section is of my wife and me. I loved the Scissorhands costume too! It took me about 15 minutes to realize that both he and I were Johnny Depp characters, and the sad thing is I was the first to realize it.
Glad you all like the decor because I got a lot of ideas from this site. Another one of my favorite props that was new for last year was the treasure chest with the pirate captain in the dining room.Last edited by Haunted Host; 02-28-2008 at 06:58 AM.

Great decor! I absolutly LOVE the skull arch on your fireplace mantle! Did you make that? It is so awsome I may have to try to re-create that myself!

It's funny... everyone loves the skull arch.
I like it too, but can't take credit. I found it by chance at a seasonal Halloween store (Halloween USA if I remember correctly) that had things on clearance a few years ago. We didn't have a house at the time, but knew that we'd have an annual Halloween party once we found a house. I'd never seen it before, but bought it figuring that I could find something to do with it... maybe a centerpiece for a table or something. Turns out we got a house with a fireplace and it looks pretty good on the mantle.
