Does anyone have any info or tried the Edible Larva or Crickets?

We are doing 'Face Your Fears' for our theme and I was thinking about Fear Factor so I looked on line and found Edible Larva for just under $2 per box, Cheddar Cheese, BBQ, Mexican Spice for the flavors. Or the Chrickets are Sour Cream and Onion, Salt and Vinegar, and Bacon and Cheese.

For A Big activity We are going to do a 'Halloween Family Fued' Game We would have four teams of five people and I thought this might be a good prize. I would have to come up with bigger prizes for the ultimate winning team, but what do you think?

I've never understood the whole 'exotic food' thing. What's so scary about food?

Especially these prepared foods. Not like it's going to be squirming around on the plate.

Then, I have a cast iron gut, and was raised in a situation where we were fortunate to have anything on the plate at all.

As for Crickets or Larva, cannot say I've tried them. Ants, Grasshoppers, Cicadas, sure. Based purely off my experience with the ants/grasshoppers/cicadas, I'm actually more intimidated by the proposed flavorings than by the thought of the bugs. They're not chips...though they will likely be crunchy and a bit tough/chewy as I'm guessing they're baking/frying that flavoring on.

The one thing I would caution is to double check that whatever is ok by everyone's religion. I'm not entirely sure on crickets, but I believe they may not be Kosher, for instance.

I found them at Science, Art & More for $1.79 per box.

I am doubting I could find them cheaper, but if someone knows where they are cheaper that would be Great!

If I get them and If there are leftovers, I probably would not eat them.

I would not do something squirming on a plate, I could not eat that, I have a weak stomache!

I thought if might just be a Funny 'Gag' gift! (That doesn't cost a lot)

"What did you win?" 'Larva, want some?" (Actually if would be for the losers as a parting gift)

man, i just don't want to eat bugs, i actually have a hard time eating meat because of the texture, but it tastes good and that's what i'm acustom to because our species have spent millions of years working it's way to the top of the food chain. if i had been born in a place where bugs were a very common dish, i would have no problem, but i just don't want to eat bugs. ewww

Kallie, we humans are on the top of the food chain. As super predators why don't we use the occasion to eat all kind of food?
