I just stumbled across these pictures of Cambridge, Ohio (my hometown) at Halloween. They didn't do this when I was living there (just some cornstalks). An entire town decorated for Halloween/fall? Cambridge finally did something right! I love it!

Night Owl, that was really strange looking at the pictures from your home town. The streets look just like our old downtown area in Longview. Thanks for sharing.

Oh very sweet.
Makes you want to dress up in a costume and just wander around at night.

Man I loved my town at Halloween when I was a kid. All the houses on the neighboring street (the place you HAD to TOT) would decorate their homes and yards and all of the houses' designs would meld and blend into the next. It really looked like a Halloween Town. EVERY house would get involved! It stopped in the late 80's early 90's. I was devastated. I need to live in a town where people of all ages celebrate Halloween damnit!

Sadly enough many cities have been forced to go into a generic mode to avoid legal issues. I worked for an organization that received state and federal funding so we could not celebrate Christmas or Halloween. We had to have Winter Holiday Celebrations and Fall Celebrations or our funding would be recallled. I also had to sign a form giving homeland security permission to do an extensive background search because I was in the top 5% of wage earners in the organization. This was required of all agencies and organizations receiving federal funding. Perhaps we should make a new movie..."Something Wicked This Way Comes - Your Federal Government At Work".EVERY house would get involved! It stopped in the late 80's early 90's. I was devastated.

Yikes!
That is scarier than any monster. Halloween used to be a civic celebration that brought the townspeople together. It is a religious thing only for a very tiny number of Americans. Since when does the federal government recognize Halloween as a religious holiday? And, if it is, do we get it off work?
Luckily, some towns still get into it. Circleville, Ohio has a big pumpkin festival

and the townspeople get into it

Governement everywhere use what they want to save their b.... so if it's saying that Halloween is a religious holiday they must have been in s... somewhere and has to use that to get out of the water .........
Bye the way i love the pics of the little town in the us . in fact i can see that americain are more into halloween than us in canada and it 's sad ........ for us not to enjoy it more
I remember when i was young ( long time ago) how fun it was and how many house were opening their door to give us candy and all the decoration at the store ect . Maybe one day everybody will have their little ohio town .

My home town...which is only six miles away...used to have all kinds of things going on for Halloween, in which the Rec. Dept, Fire Dept, Police Dept., and even the church would get together and make some memorable Halloweens for us kids...not sure what they do thses days if anything.
