I don't know how many of you have made the trek this holiday season to see the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland but believe me it was worth the trip.
Most people have probably told you of the REAL nightmare before xmas (crowds at Disneyland between Dec 23-Dec 31) but if you go on Jan 1 and arrive 1st thing in the morning (ie around 9am), the park is EMPTY! That's whjy I was able to get these beautiful shots of the haunted mansion makeover.
Enjoy!

Those are beautiful shots, victor-eyd, thanks for sharing them!! Wow...that's my dream home!

We MUST take the kids to experience this in the next couple of years, it will be quite a treat for all of us.

Is that just a temporary makeover? I loved the Haunted Mansion just the way it was. Great pictures. We haven't been to Disney Land in years but you never forget the experience.

The makeover apparently is only available AFTER Thanksgiving. I could be wrong but I don't remember the makeover during the Halloween/Thanksgiving period and the ride shuts down to return to its original, mortal state just after the new year.
Go figure!
Understand that the changes are the ENTIRE ride! Everything, beginning with the narration and the room that is actually stretching (or is it your imagination) is all Jack Skellington-inspired, especially when you look up, since they replace the hanging corpse with Jacks face.
Totally awesome. The exhibits, the music and sounds, the picture frames, the walls, the props (except for madame leota) is now around Nightmare. Even the old man and the dog is replaced by Jack and zero. The grand ballroom has gifts and boxes in Nightmare wrapping and even the voice in the end has been replaced.
And no, POTC is still the same during the holidays, unfortunately.

I'm not too sure at DW Haunted Mansion. The difference between the two is that you walk up to the house in DL, but you enter from the side and below the house in Orlando. That's what I hated about the ride there. You couldn't actually touch the house.

Yeah, not holiday madeover, but PoTC has been madeover to reflect the movie.. Jack is in the barrel, not the pretty brunette missing her nightie... Barbosa is on the ship in the cannon battle scene instead of the generic pirate and the other movie pirates are throughout the scenes.. I dont remember where William and Elizabeth are, but the Travel Channel episodes before Christmas showed the changes..

Turner and Elizabeth didn't make it to the ride, only Barbossa (and not a very good version of him either), Davey Jones (via fogscreen before the waterfall), and Jack are there.
