Anyone get Halloween-related gifts?

I got a statue of Anubis and the original "Halloween" on DVD (only had VHS).

I can't imagine too much that's better. I did get a couple of spooky things. I love that stuff!

Will you remind me what Anubis is? I've heard of her(?) before. Isn't she an Egyptian cat headed goddess?? I haven't heard that name since I was 18. BTW, where in the buckeye state are you from? I grew up in Akron which is south of Cleveland so go Browns.

Anubis is the Egyptian God of Death. He is the one who perform the mummification, he also protects the souls (what Egyptian called KA) during their journey to the kingdom of the dead. Anubis presides over the "weighing of the soul" ritual were it's decided if the late will access to the kingdom of the dead (which goddess is Osiris) or will be destroyed definitely.

He is represented with a jackal head, because ancient Egyptian noticed that jackals were often near their necropolis (these animals are omnivore and could be necrophagous such as coyote in Northern America which are in fact very similar)


SuccobOZ, the cat headed goddess is Bastet, the goddess who protects the women and the children, she is the goddess of the household and maternity. For ancient Egyptian cats were sacred, that's the reason why some were turned into mummies.

I wanted to see if I was right in my memory before I looked it up. WAY off, but I know the name. My first boyfriend wanted to be Wiccan and at one time he mentioned Anubis. What one has to do with the other I don't know. It's just weird that name stuck with me. Thank you for clarification.

Nothing Halloweenish for me this year. A lot of good computer stuff that will hopefully add to the Halloween feel, but nothing specific. At least is wasnt COAL!!! Quess I wasnt as good as I thought I was this past year... (insert evil laugh)

My wife and kids got me stuff for prop building. I got a rotary tool, heat gun, a couple of small fans (for fake flames), a big container of joint compound, a couple of gift cards and some other small things. I used the I-Tunes card to get Carnival of Souls by Nox Arcana, too cool!

Does a Pastafarian tee shirt count?

Santa was good to me....well actually my fiance and her family here is all the Halloween related stuff I got.....
