I am planning to open a haunt in 2009. Can anyone give me pointers or resources that would help me get going in the right direction? My wife and I have volunteered in the top area haunt for the last 6 years so we feel we can run a great haunt once it's up but the business and legal end of starting out has me a little intimidated. Any info would be awesome. Thanks

lighting , sound ,eriee atmosphere, other than that theres others that can help with the legal aspects. it kinda depends on the state and city. Havergast asylum is a good one to ask about some laws ...he gets bothered every year LOL. he lives in california though.but he knows alot about the troubles of a home haunt.
We became haunters by the way we were haunted as children. http://s229.photobucket.com/albums/e...henight_album/

Do you live in a city, town, or county? Are you planning a for profit or charity haunt? All these come into play because you are operating a business. After you talk to the proper government authorities and seeing what permits you need I would think your next step is to contact your insurance agent or shop around for a liability policy. Makes sense to me but hey what do I know? Good luck!

Exactly. Actually I think that's where I'm at right now. We live in a small city (very large town?) but it is the biggest one for 100 miles in any direction. We basically will have only one significant competitor. We are planning for profit but not expecting one for 2 or 3 years. I do want to send a portion to an autism charity but haven't found the right one yet. I have already found a liability ins. carrier. I don't have a site yet but Im not planning to open until 2009 and cant see starting a lease until maybe Jusy of 09.
I guess my thing now is what permits and/or licenses do I need or how do I go about finding out?
