I was in Wal-Mart yesterday, and they were already taking down xmas stuff and consolidating it into tighter areas!
Where they had reindeer, snowmen, deer, fake snow and lights on the top shelf in the garden center...they now have boxes of spring stuff.
Where they had Wii and Xbox displays, they have garden center stuff.
Where they once had decorations, they have storage bins.
Granted, they still have TONS of stuff out, but they are obviously compressing the section as stuff sells.
I asked the cashier if they would be putting out Valentine's day stuff very soon, and she simply replied... yes.

Sad sad sad. Most of the holiday stuff here is sold out a month before the actual holiday, and the next holiday stuff takes it's place. Don't try to buy Christmas stuff during December, it's time to buy for spring! I agree with Kallie, people need to slow down, and enjoy the moment.
As darkness falls, the path ahead becomes veiled in gloom. A jack-o-lantern shines through the night. It's horrible visage serves two fold. To keep wickedness at bay, and remind travelers their fate, if they wander off the path.

I agree with Kallie; that's why I think the holidays go by so fast. It's like, "Okay, hurry through Halloween because here comes Thanksgiving and by the time you finish that turkey, you better have the tree up and where is my noisemaker for New Year's and what did you get me for Valentine's and what about your mom, did you get her the Mother's Day gift yet......" and it makes me crazy.
The holidays lasted so long when I was a kid (at least they felt that way) because there was no "hurry up" about them. There was also no insanity about the gifts; the first time I clearly remember people going crazy for something was the Cabbage Patch Kids. I was already too old for them, but my dad managed to get my sister 2 or 3 of them, I think. Then after that it was the Ninetendo 64 craze.
I'm in no hurry. We put up our tree last weekend, I put some stuff out and my presents are wrapped. I swore I was not going to be driven mental this year and I kept that promise."He has my father's eyes."
"Gomez, take those out of his mouth!"

I was wondering the same thing I was in Meijers and they had no Christmas trees on display just wrapping paper everywhere and ornaments.

Not to defend any of the big retailers as they are all evil, but a lot of it has to do with space. I went back the day after Halloween to Rite Aid planning to snag 2 foggers they had left over only to find every bit of Halloween stuff was gone. The manager told me that they already had packaged everything up in bins and put it on a truck to send back for credit. She said they were already overloaded with Christmas items and literally could not keep Halloween and Christmas items on display or in stock at the same time.
I used to do electrical maint for Eckerd Drug stores and I know for a fact most of the stores stockrooms were so bad, you could barely walk through them at any given time.
