does anyone think I can pull off my haunt in 12 days. The past few years I had the whole month to build. Those who have been reading my post know about my neigbor, and city problems, most of the people who come to my haunt are disgusted with what I have been put throught. My ? is should I ateempt the haunt , or should I get back at my neigbors by setting up my grusome display in my front yard with no haunt to hide it. If you say build the the haunt this is what I have to pull off in 12 days http://s204.photobucket.com/albums/b...haunt%20build/
Build it and they will come.

That's a lot of work in 12 days. Personally, if I were you, I wouldn't try to rush it because, knowing me, I'll miss something. I would rather take the time and do it right. However, because of your jerky neighbor, I know this isn't an option.

How long does the gruesome stuff take to put up without the haunt to hide it? If you can do it quickly, go for it. If your neighbor complains, you can tell him, "Hey, you didn't want the whole castle thing, so I settled for this." If it really starts to be a problem, contact your local building permit department (whatever that might be) and get a permit for the whole, huge thing. Post the permit, smile and point at it when your neighbor comes by. Civil rights work both ways. You are not on his property, you aren't blocking his driveway, etc.

For heaven's sake, it's only for one night. People can be so freakin' annoying.

The city wanted me to build by permit, but I found a loop whole. The city is not offering any help to me. They are siding with the neighbors. $300.00 for a one night permit was not going to work for me.
Build it and they will come.

    haverghast asylum,
Isn’t our PC world wonderful? Sounds like to me its time to make friends with one of your local politicians, frightening I know but they might be able to pull the strings. The other thing to look at is what is the fine if you get served a citation? You might find it’s a 20 buck fine and well worth the investment. If I was in the same situation I’d look into all and every option I could just so I can put up one gruesome haunt to screw with the neighbor’s small minds.

That looks like a LOT of work. Is your yard the only option you have?

I have an honest question about these setups - if your insurance agent drove by, would they cancel your homeowner's policy?

It is a hell of a lot of work to pull the haunt off. I stress out every year trying to build it the best I can. All the people that enjoy the haunt make the pain more then worth it. the insurence agent is the least of my worries at the time. I might be able to build in my backyard, but I will have to remove fences , and such.
Build it and they will come.

    haverghast,
Let us know what you decide. Your like many of us here in that its a heck of lot of a allot work and then some putting up your haunt and then taking it back down. At times I wonder is it all worth it? Then I get my answer each Halloween Eve seeing the fun my friends and family are having and the frightening joy in the TOT’s eyes. Yes, that makes it all worth it!

Do you have anybody to help set up so everything goes up faster?
The cure for death itself. The answer is immortality. By creating a legacy, by living a life worth remembering, you become immortal.
