DH and I put up the indoor x-mas decor on Saturday (tree, mantel, knick-knacks) and planned to do the outdoor stuff today.

We still had half the garage full of Halloween stuff, so we had to put that up in the attic before tackling the x-mas stuff. *sniff* sob*

2 hours later, we're sweaty (it's in the high 70s) and exhausted and don't feel like hanging x-mas lights. We're actually thinking about not putting them up at all this year, but maybe next weekend we'll tackle it.

If this was Halloween stuff, I would be chomping at the bit to get stuff up and no matter how tired, I would have had the majority up by the first of the month. It never bothered me and we'd do the big push the day before for the electronics and expensive stuff. Hours of work for one night, but it was so worth it.

I actually said to DH, "You know, there's still plenty of time to put this crap out, we don't have to do it this weekend."

Gee wiz your the lamest of them all. Just kidding. I feel the exact sameway you do. Were just use to Halloween being an exciting time and all. Plus if you think about it, December is one of the most rushed and stressfull months. So it's okay not to have it all up or even in sight the the first few weeks. Good luck and I hope you and DH enjoy the holiday season.

I know how you feel I just now got the tree up and finished up outside, but I still won't be able to relax until Jan 2nd (day after taking down decorations). And you are right you still have plenty of time to get the lights up outside.

I am so envious of your weather. In Washington State we are having heavy rain with high wind advisories for the next two days. Wind gusts of up to 80mph are expected tonight. Yesterday we had snow. It's much easier to get in the Christmas spirit when it is not 70 degrees outside. My youngest son lives in New Zealand. Christmas in New Zealand is difficult for him because it is summer and most people like to celebrate with a bbq on the beach. He also misses Thanksgiving because it is an American tradition. All the more reason to keep him coming home occasionally. Hope you catch the Christmas bug by next weekend.

I also like Christmas and would like to decorate out doors. I like lights. It doesn't seem worth it if I can't put up an impressive display, and I can't fathom taking all of them down in freezing weather when it's all over.

Well, I'm just now at the point where I can somewhat tolerate the Christmas music that's playing everywhere I go. One day I came home from work and Mr. L had put up the x-mas tree. I said, "Why did you put it up so soon?" He said, "I wanted to get the d*mn thing done." Not a lot of x-mas joy going on in this household! LOL.

I think it would be easier to get into the x-mas spirit if we had kids but, as it is, our conversations/plans are still all about next Halloween and what we want to do with our haunt.

I do love seeing Christmas lights up- it gets dark so early here and it makes it more feative. I always put mine up the first part of Nov. so the wather is ok, I just don't turn them on til after Thanksgiving. But I wait til a relatively warm day to take them down in January. Right now we have ice snow and strong winds. BRRRR, I am cold thinking about going out and going to work.

Don't feel bad; we were supposed to get our treee this weekend and didn't. Our son spent Sunday decorating his grandparents' tree, lol. I have boxes of stuff in the garage, but I walk in there, stare and sigh. Somewhere, the Grinch is giggling....

Gosh Bethene! I didn't know you were supposed to take the lights down. We were pruning some shrubs this summer and I found lights my husband left on for so long they were imbedded in the middle of the bush. It was great support for the branches anyway.
