When I was a young(er) girl there was a surge of monster and horror movies released. They are so hillarious to look at now....especially The Crawling Eye, The Blob, and the H-Man. But when you are 5 years old it doesn't take much to scare you. My Dad was a big kidder and he would do things like hide in the closet and rattle chains or hide under the bed and reach up to grab us after the lights went out at bedtime. We had a great basement to set up as a Haunted House and spent hours renacting movies like the Haunting of Hill House (I was always the "floating woman") and we used a lot of catsup for special effects. It's no wonder I'm ABNORMAL. Anyway, I still enjoy the thrill of a good scare. A Halloween home haunt provides the perfect opportunity to share that joy with others. How did your obsession begin?

I grew up in Ohio and Halloween was always celebrated in our house, with a big pot of Mom’s chili cooking on the stove, jack-o-lantern carving, and home made candy and caramel apples. Staying out until late at night trick or treating was the norm in our neighborhood. I was watching horror movies on tv at a very young age and loved being scared by them. The tradition never left me, thank goodness! Then I met the man of my dreams who loves Halloween as much as I do, we were married on Halloween five years ago and our garage haunt was born and is still going strong!

Halloween has always been cool to me. My dad used to play tricks on us as well, tying strings to tiki dolls and pulling them across dark hallways. I got hooked on the old monster movies at a young age, and have been fascinated by scary movies ever since. I think I was 9 when I got my sisters to help me set up my room as a haunted house, and guide family and friends through it. I had wired some plastic pumpkin halloween baskets with lights, and strung them from the ceiling. Baby powder was used for smoke, that was untill my mom found out and made me clean up the powdery mess. Never thought you could be smart and stupid at the same time. That sparked my drive to make haunts, to spread the horror for others to enjoy.
As darkness falls, the path ahead becomes veiled in gloom. A jack-o-lantern shines through the night. It's horrible visage serves two fold. To keep wickedness at bay, and remind travelers their fate, if they wander off the path.

My brothers would always come home with horror movies as a kid. Then between that I would watched Unsolved Mysteries with my mother late at late and it would spook me out, haha.
One year my brother was apart of a haunted house at our school and I'd go in it to see my brother and he literally scared me. There was this glass and some boy came up banging on it saying help me! Then my brother would come up behind him and pull him back.
I always looked up to my older brother and I loved being scared. He'd always come out of hiding places and scare me. I got a joy out of it all. Another thing we did was play hide and seek in my basement, we put pillows over the windows, it was really spooky. I remember one time my younger brother hid in the dryer.
Halloween was always fun. I'd around my neighborhood and come home with two bags of candy. I loved the smell of autumn and seeing jack-o-lanterns on peoples porches. I had so many good memories as a kid. Now year after year my love for Halloween has grew and grew. I always get really excited & I feel like I'm a kid again.

WOW I didn't think anyone existed that had the same outlook on UNSOLVED MYSTERIES, hahahhah WOW WOW WOW!! I used to stay up with my brother aned watch that show as well (also rescue 911 and America's most wanted) and the host had one freaky voice!! Not to mention the show overall had a creepy feel to it, but the host's voice wow it was just odd in some way.
We just had a love for Halloween from the get go, not to mention here in Canada other kids would spark interest by encouraging one another to celebrate the holiday, decorate etc.
We also would rent horror movies (that are our parents would allow) and so forth.

It was space aliens that caused me to go down this path to ruin! LOL! Otherwise it was bad B horror movies, especially Japanese monster movies and the years in high school I volunteered to work in a charity sponsored haunted house. That is what bought on my insanity.

Oh yes, Spookzilla, there is nothing quite like those old B movies. Do you remember "The Tingler?" And what was better than watching "The Twilight Zone"? My sister and I still enjoy finding copies of those old black and white horror movies. Noahbody...what can I say about your honesty? If it is candy that motivates you, then candy it is! My husband does not share my passion for things that go bump in the dark. I guess after working the night shift as a police officer for 30 years his idea of being scared in the dark is different than mine. Perhaps I can change his mind now that he is retired.

I always enjoyed dressing up and getting sweets and when I was in Primary School we'd have a Halloween Party and during classes we would do Halloween activities colouring in pics, word searches etc.

Since I was a child I was attracted by macabre and bizarre . I guess my Halloween obsession began when - I think I was about 8/10 years old - I bought a pumpkin carving kit from Spookmaster. It was quite unusual to find such thing in France, that's why I ran on this opportunity. Then my brain went mad...
