    Hello all;

    Has anyone visited the great NJ shore attractions like Brigantine Castle or Dracula's Castle back in their hayday?

    I have fond memories of both from childhood and they definitely had an influence on my love of Halloween (even though they weren't Halloween specific attractions).

    Anyway...here's a great link for Brigantine Castle:

    Stonegate are you a mind reader??? I was researching Brigantine Castle just THIS WEEK since my memories of it are so hazy and I'd like to attempt recreating a few of the scares for my planned 2008 walkthrough-I was on that very freaking site! I remember the vampire leaping out of the portrait, the rat hallway and walking over the clear floor. I remember it as being ice though and of a vampire in a coffin underneath suddenly opening his red eyes and just watching up through it as we scurried across. Seriously awesome.

    I lived 10 minutes from the Haunted Mansion on Long Branch Pier. I can't remember details, just standing on line ready to pee my pants in delighted terror!

    Did you ever go to the Great Adventure Haunted Castle in Jackson back in the day?

    All of these great places burned down and were never replaced-understandably so with GA. Sad.

    Though I was never there in person, I do remember the commercials on TV since I grew up in Southeastern PA. Sad to see these things go away.

    I never went to Great Adventure. I do remember walking over the clear covered grave though---well I didn't walk over it, I cried so much that my dad had to carry me over it. For some reason that 1 thing scared the hell out of me. We used to stay at a beach house on the weekends in Brigantine and seeing that castle in the distance was a nice sight. Miss those days.

    Stonegate - fantastic link. I came across it myself a while back. We would always go down the shore and visit both Brigantine and Dracula's Castle.

    Both were so cool and I was sad to see both go, especially the fire at the Castle.

    I visited both many times. Also was very sad when they went.

    I asked Mr. L about this as he was born and raised in NJ. He vaguely remembers the castles but he said he does remember going to the towers...a lighthouse on the shore. Anyway, that castle looked awesome! Too bad it’s gone.

    I remember the miniature golf course at Brigantine that had all sorts of skeletons and macabre at every hole. I never did go into the castle because I was too scared at the time. I think I was 5or 6 at the time but now I wish I did.
