Im from the U.K, did my first display this year using animated lighting which was fun. first in the area to do anything for the halloween night.
want to pull off something a bit better next year, and want to add some animatronic props like creature in a crate, but not that good at making things,
being that Im in the U.k, cant find decent props unless I ship, and thats from willing people and for huge costs in shipping,
Have just been quoted from one ebayer $600 dollars to ship over.
can anyone help. or direct me to someone who might be able to help. or are there any of you from u.k who I can chat to.
Pheonix UK has done alot with exorcist and alot of other projects so Id feel he would be a good resource for you. Might be cheaper to buy the parts individually and assemble rather than have the complete thing shipped. Also I believe someone was selling one under the for sale part of this forum but I dont know if its still available or able to be shipped to there. Was one of the best movements Ive seen in a creature crate though. Hope I helped, Mike
problem with bulding myself is finding the parts in the u.k
I saw the creature crate is the one who quoted me 600 dollars which is 300 pounds which seemed alot and on here he was looking for around 1000 dollars,
I know it looks very good but the shipping really hurts
Unfortunately if you want to do a good halloween over here you need to get your hands dirty and build it yourself, most of the materials are available over here in one form or another.
You can easilly do a creature ina crate for £300 over here in UK, this is a great prop and there are so many ways of doing it.
This prop essentially consists of a box, some kind of motor power sound and lights.... and maybe a fogger, and there are som amny different ways of doing it that its hard to know where to start.
heres a good link to start with, lots of how-to's for you here,.
I think I could make up from designs, but when you start looking at the designs they refer to contollers and sound chips, this I have found hard to find u.k based.
you say you import skulltronix.
looked at there web site some time back and was scared off by their prices.
where do you sell them from. is it web or store based.
is there anywhere I can have a look.
Prop-1 Control Board $35.00 - It looks like I can get this
Cowlacious Chipcorder Player Board $17.95 - can I sub this or have to import
PIR Sensor $7.95 - Sub this
Other Electronic Parts (relays, pots, switches, leds, etc) ~$20.00 ?????
Powered Computer Speakers $9.95 - no problem
Windshield Wiper Motor $15.95 -???????
Power Supply $10.00 should not be a problem
Other Electrical Parts (wire, receptacles, light sockets, etc) ~$25.00
Wood and Hardware
Personally I don't recommend the prop-1, others swear by them I dont, I much prefer PC based control systems, and if I wanted something like a prop-1 then I could put it together for £8.00 using just a Picaxe, much cheapers and just as easy to program.
another option to consider is to use your PC as your control system, if you fit a 7.1 sound card to it then you get 8 separate speakers, plus VSA gives you the ability to control your props and synch sound and lights
For general electronic components you are best off looking at Maplins, or www.rapidonline.com
a good source for good electronic control gear in the uk is Milford instruments
