I am moving to the Hanover, VT area (most Likely).

I am wondering if there are any pro haunts or even large yard haunts that someone might want help with once I'm up there.

I will be moving into a condo with no yard or storage space, but I would still love to be involved in Halloween in some way.

So any like-minded people up my way?

Announcing that you are moving to either Vermont or NH from Mass will certainly not get you the kind of response you are hoping for LOL

Yes, it is Hanover, VT right on the NH line.

And ironmaiden, is MA really that bad?

I am actaully from RI, and moved to MA about 10 years ago for work. So I am not a MA native. Is RI even worse?

I lived in Vermont for some years.... There are WONDERFUL things to do for halloween. I personally think that the small New England towns are the best places to experience a good ToT night.

Be sure to visit the Haunted Forest...this is by far the most fun event I have ever been to in Vt.

    http://www.thehauntedforest.org/

Imagine 2 miles of carved Jacks with skits and haunts throughout the walk. Impoossibly beautiful.

Also - to see some amazing ToTing - head to Stowe Villiage and watch the town just shut down from the numbers of kids in costime roaming the streets. It is Halloween perfection.

I have to say too... nothing is spookier than a cold, dark (and in VT dark is DARK) Vt night driving through the North East Kingdom. So much history there, and it can scare the hell out of you.

Just walking through the woods you can come across old abandoned houses... with the tables still set. :-)

I envy that you are moving there. I miss it!

Well, Mass. residents up here have the nickname M@ssholes. And a lot of times for good reason, regarding their driving like they own the roads (that's putting it nicely) and their attitude toward residents, who they perceive to be dumb Mainers put on earth to serve them.
Of course, not all are like that, but the reputation is somewhat deserved. At least up here in Maine and probably NH.
I'm sure you'll find lots of haunt fiends in VT, but I have to say, they're sure aren't many on this forum. I'm not sure why. I know there are only 3 from Maine on here (counting myself), and I know there are a lot more Halloween freaks in this state.

Bob, Michigal hit it totally on the proverbial head. It is the invasion, umm, influx of folks from south of the border that is turning what was once a very rural state into a paved parking lot with big box stores and half million dollar homes. Then once they move into said rural area they invariably gripe about the lack of services and how dare the wildlife come wandering into their backyards....

Okay rant over. Sorry Bob, nothing directed personally at you. You can always try telling folks you're from, say, Maine or NH however the accent will probably give you away. Oh yes, there is a distinct accent for each of the New England states. LOL

BTW mina, what you said about rural New England is spot on. This is a beautiful, magical place where the spirit of Halloween indeed lives year round but the autumn is beyond description. Hence my signature below...

Funny, in the South we have an infusion of New Englanders too.

They spend most of the time griping about how much better it was where they are from, yet they come in droves. In their thickest accent, they make fun of the way Southerners talk. It's actually pretty funny.

My company was headquartered in Stamford. Our division was in Alabama... you can imagine the condescending nature of the relationship.

Well, I hope not to be one of them. No McMansion for me. I have a small 6 room 200 year old house now, that I am downsizing from and looking into a smaller 5 room condo.

Only moving because of my wife's work.

I always let others go first at intersections, and love the wildlife. We live on the edge of the woods now by a brook, and that will be the hardest thing to give up.

Fortunately, the area I am looking at is beautiful with lots of scenery.

I have been in broadcasting for many years now and have worked hard not to have a "New England" accent. I actually pronounce my "R"s.

I look forward to the move and I am very thankful that there is no Walmart, McDonalds or Dunkin Donuts anywhere near me.

I will be sure that I have an internet connection, but other than that, I will not complain about any lack of services.

Since I will not be building a new place, I will not be responsible for making it any less rural, so I hope I will be accepted in my new town when I get there.
