Kind of relates to the "trunk or treat" thread. A good read.

There is another very well written article about the importance of Halloween in our culture as it relates to community and tradition. I hope someone can find a link. I think we should attempt to get these published in all of our local newspapers next year.

Very nice article.

I always loved being scared, even when little, and I remember getting annoyed with my sister for running out of "Poltergeist " during the coffins popping out of the ground and swimming pool scene, as I had to go check on her and missed part of the movie.

Did I mention that this was an OLDER sister?

Halloween is no more pagan or evil than Christmas or Easter... in fact, it makes me laugh about Christian die-hards still doing the easter eggs and tree decorating cause both of those are much more pagan than putting out a pumpkin or TOT.

Excellent and very well-written article. I would much rather deal with fake scares than the very real scares that are around us every day. I actually feel the tension in my shoulders loosening when I'm working on a skull or coloring some foam to look like someone's insides.

Halloween will always be with us and I'm convinced of that. How do I know? Because horror movies will always be big money makers and they tie in directly to Halloween. I remember one Halloween where every little boy was the "Scream" character. And how many Jasons and Freddies and Michaels do you see every year?

Haunts are great for charity events (looking forward to getting involved in that) and what could be more Christian then doing something for someone else? Even if that "something" involves spiderwebs and severed fingers....
