Are you sure you've never done this stuff before? This year was my first big display as well and it didn't look nearly that good. Great work!

Thanks! No never got around to doing anything but I always had the urge... really wanted to do a facade so I had some serious personal issues and just felt this would be a great outlet... so by mid-september I bought some pink foam board and went crazy...lol

what a fantastic job, I can't believe it is your first tiem!! Great facade, how did you make it, I know you said the foam/board, but how di you make it, and what did you use to paint it? I am impressed

thanks for the kind words... give you the condensed version
Pink extruded foam-->router attachment for dremel-->dremeled out rough rock lines-->torch then water/torch foam rocks to add surface details-->dremel sand attachment to further gouge 'rock'--> grey base (latex paint thinned with water)--> black wash paint quickly wiped off with paper towels--> sponge highlight colors (lighter grey, green, browns)-->hot glue moss and ivy-->attach whole thing to 1/4" plywood--screw in blocks of wood to back of ply-->attach 1/2" conduit-->snap hangers attach to house-->snap on and off facade!

for a first display that is great...i cant wait to see it next year
