I have a huge rubber mask that I use outside each year and each year that I get it out is becoming more and more brittle. Parts of it have hardened and have started to break off around the neckline. I would love to know how I can save it from getting any worse. I store it stuffed with plastic shopping bags in it's own box, but never added any powder or anything. I hope someone has some suggestions.

Thanks! Interesting site.
From what I read there, it looks like the problem with my mask is sunlight making it brittle. I use the mask on an 8 foot prop I display outside each year during most of the month of October. I've had it at least 6-7 years now. Was one of my best garage sale finds ever! Think I only paid $10 for it, but I hate to see it ruined...it is a really cool 2 foot mask of a skull wearing a top hat.---------------------
