So, it all turned out pretty well. We had some kids that wouldn't even come up the stairwell - the first of which was a young teenaged boy - so I consider it a job well-done
We don't have a lot of space to work with, but it all turned out pretty well if you ask me.
I ended up only using one 10-lb block of dry ice, though I bought three. With that and two layers of ice in the fog chiller, it did its job a treat!
Here are a few pics. Video below...
As you walk in, you're greeted by the Grim Reaper:
Then, through the layers upon layers of black streamers and clear invisible thread (to simulate spider web) you reach your goal of the candy cauldron and its protectors...
Looking back on your way out, you have to make your way through the streamers again, to safety!
We had maybe 20 kids through, but the parents were the best, wanting to come through and check it all out
I had a ton of fun putting it together. It cost a bit and took about three weeks, off and on, but this was a first time event.
We also enjoyed beers throughout the night and shared our special spiced cider, spiked with spiced rum with the neighbors. It was a great Halloween!
thanks folks! I definitely have to credit the forum for a lot of the great ideas and links to other ideas around the web!
For example... The lighting ideas were inspired by an outside link (I forget where now), the flickering red light is the fluorescent starter idea, lightning provided by the $12 lightning box from Spilsbury, fog chiller refinement and ideas from the forum...
I think next year we're going to enclose the balcony and do an actual haunt
