Well, I just got home from my sale sweep. Left the house at 8am this morning, and hit Wally World. They were virtually cleared out but I still snagged a goodly number of Dove candy bags and other treats for a buck each. Also, a white pumpkin luminary $3.00, small animated headstone for $2.50, and a morgue sign $2.00.

Then my two year old and I went to the biggest Spirit in Denver, slated to open at 10am. We pulled up 10 minutes early and were let right in without any competition in the store! I got a fogger for 10 bucks, the life size crouching devil for $125, two hanging heads for $12, the FX controller for $7, flying vulture (had to, I've got the other two from previous years) $40, Spazm for $69 (he honestly creeps me out, HAD to get), and my little boy just had to have a wooden wiggly snake for $1.50 (hey, he'd been a good sport, after all).

I still spent a good amount, BUT since I wasn't able to buy anything pre season because we moved half way across the country in the middle of the month, I felt at liberty. Besides, I went in with a specific list of things that I'd eyed all season and wanted... and got everything on that list. So, I'm going to have one heck of a time next year! A lot of places didn't really have much stuff this year, but I'm still feeling that I did well and got the few things that really did catch my eye.

    So, any other success stories?

I have a goofy question for you...
Does the $7 FX controller you purchased at Spirit have RCA plugs that allow you to hook up a CD or MP3 player? I saw the same item when I was in the store earlier this month and passed it up because I thought it was microphone controled. After reading something about a similar item in the forum I realized that I may have been mistaken. It it does accept input from a CD player then I might try to swing by on my way home from work. Could you please check for me? I would really appreciate it.

Just did a quick stop by the local BX to see what was left. Got a crawling arm, light up skull w/candles and squeezy skull that my youngest (and wife!) wanted all for $10. Yep, they're battery operated but that's what I want as we live off base and use English voltage so all those cool plug ins don't work for us!

I'm sad cause I won't be able to hit Spirit until around 6 this evening.
I really need to see if they have any costumes left for next year's party and I so want some cool big stuff (like Spasm!) so I'm crossing everything that they'll still have SOMETHING decent when I get there.

I did go to Garden Ridge yesterday and they'd already clearanced everything and it was pretty picked over.

    BUT I got:

monster head animated spirit ball for $10
Ultrasonic water mister with color change and a cool clawed hand bowl for $12
glass clings for $1 each (the cool ones that look like they are bursting out of the wall/window)
LED flicker candles with Frankenstein and skulls for $2
    shrunken heads $2 each
test tubes filled with gross stuff $1 each

It does have an audio input jack. I actually had to pull it out of the box to make sure.

I went and checked out the stores from our small town. I managed to get a large hairy tarantula for 4$ at Giant Tiger.

If I have time later on today I want to check out Wal-Mart and Shopper's Drug Mart.
