I only discovered this site a couple of weeks ago, but have learned much and wanted to say thanks. I did my first haunt this year and we had a great night last, tripling the number of kids from the year before...
My favorite line was the kid who, after seeing my trashcan trauma, said "Is that all you got?" To which I responded, no, there is one more little thing down in the shrub there....down in front....then I sprung the coffin leaper over his head...screamed like a little girl (or boy)...
Anyway, we did the coffin leaper with a 2x12 cylinder and a vibrating talking head; trashcan trauma with a talking head; small coffin with wisecraking skeleton; the creature crate; the large web idea that I got here as well as other bits and bobs - next year, year two of the haunt, that will be a good year....I can see it now....
Cheers and thanks from Ottawa
Apparently I have to post three times to put up images... will try replying to this thread and then posting pics

Great looking props! I so want a Trash Can Trama next year! I love the coffin leaper too! You have great prop-building skills... guess you'll fit in quite well around here!

I love the Jack-O-Lantern you have in that chair. That's definitely the creepiest face I've ever seen on a pumpkin!

The lights under the coffin leaper. What are they? On the ground....

Thanks for the comments, was my first year doing all this and since I am downtown, I have little space.
The lights around the leaper were a very last minute thing - like 5:00 on Halloween- and are simply red Christmas lights thrown into the garden. We had a very warm october here and didn't get our real killing frost until last night, so the garden was still tall and just beginning to die back - perfect for the effect.
I really enjoyed this, I am already thinking it might be cool to have the bow of a pirate ship coming out of the porch next year, rigged so it can rock back and fourth...have to start collecting buckys...but if I started that, the wife really would kill me....
Cheers,
Kerry

The third picture up, the lights look purple. I see the red ones right under the leaper. Wondering about the purple ones. It looks awesome, I would love to copycat. That's really why I am asking.

Most of the string is just red - although a couple of the bulbs were smashed so I quickly plugged in what I had, which happened to be a couple of blue lights - perhaps that combined with the fog and the poor picture quality gave purple....
