last night was amazing , our best year so far , it was totally insane with people .......we are ususally just me and my husband and can manage that wasnt enough i had to have someone on the porch making people wait and enter in small groups ....
we welcomed visitors all weekend before halloween and like every year we had rain on saturday we also had strong winds , but we had people in the evening when we had a break but sunday we had alot of visitors and trick or treaters .....since we wore in the newspaper and we also learned yesterday that we wore mentioned on the local radio , we didnt even know we even won their contest lol....
but last night , it was the first year that people lined up to come in the house to get their candy ,we had a fireman (real one) that came at about 4:30 to watch traffic because i am on a fast passing road and their are no street lights , the poor guy had to call for back up at 6:30 because he couldnt deal with the traffic alone lol so we ended up with the uge firetruck and lights and 3 firemans doing the traffic and parking , how cool was that.....we had more people that the hole town , one fireman said it looks like a ghost town downtown hehehehe
it was my first year letting people inside my house (living room) they wore coming into the foyer then into a ghost spirit room ( a seance room) i was making the kids be quiet when entering not to wake the ghosts of the manor , then when i entered the living room i would talk louder and ask if the spirits wore their , if they would allow me to give treats and while i was asking that the lights would flash and the chandelier would shake lol , then the crystal ball was activated and the haunted books just a bunch of details like they wore possed by spirit ghosts .....the kids and adults loved it .....
everyone this year kids , teens and adult wore all on the best behavior and all loved the decor , we got alot more money donations too.....
what was a hit was the laboratory , donna , and the seance room ....the adults all loved the hearse
now for next year i need to learn to make animated props because i think i need to higher my game now after this year ......alot![]()

Dark star , addictive ? wow it was wonderfull , in 5 years doing it here it was our best one yet and our biggest display too.....i aleready have project for 2008 so thats why i desperatly need to make some stuff move and animate ......so i will be lurking on this forum in the prop cat quite often finding post to make stuff move lol....will need LOTS of help....
i am the halloween nut in the couple but my husband was freaking out yesterday of all the people linning up, he told me later this morning that we had not 3 but 5 fireman out in the street , 2 trucks (thats to tell you i have had no chance to peek outside all evening lol) the first fireman asked if we also needed security on the grounds that they could also do that , i am so glad i live here , we had a skeleton talking at the entry of the diveway welcoming people and my husband was sure someone would steel the cd player plugged into him , but no .....everything went smooth no one touched anything .....a perfect evening great weather too...
we live in the country of a small town and got just yesterday over 700 kids + adults not counting sunday and saturday before.....we had groups of adults coming too to see the display , we closed at 9 and had many people still stoping but had to turn them away because my husband was due into work at 10 so had to cover all the props ....
and the best is my daugther yesterday did her first trick or treating , she is 4 and always as stayed here on halloween but my friend took her trick or treating , and when i got out of the house briefly at 8 pm she arrived and she was smiling and so happy to have gotten a bag full of candy , it was priceless to see ,she said she missed me with her but i cant do all this and not be home , made me sad i wont have that souvenir with her but her seing her happy face is enough for me

That is truly amazing and sounds like a wonderful Halloween night! Congrats for the magnificent turn-out !
I could not imagine having that large a group and only having two people to deal with it - you both must be exhausted!I'm a Halloween Bride! 10/31/2002
