For those affected by the later time change this year, what are you doing differently since Trick or Treat will be half in the light and half in the dark? We are not sure what if anything to do diferently now that we are looking at almost the first hour in the daylight. My actors are asking because they were just going to hang in dark spots and startle the TOTS and now there will be no dark spots at first. They can still hide behind a couple props but will be visible beforehand.

    Thanks!

We're affected here in IL too - staying light longer just bums me out. Just keeping the lights on longer is about all we're doing.

Are you doing a graveyard or a haunt? Not much you can do this year, but maybe next year work overhead coverage into your design. Good luck, and Happy Halloween.

My plan was to stand in the front yard and sacrifice goats, praying loudly for a total eclipse of the sun. Even if if doesn't work, it should still be quite a show.

It's a pain, but not really going to affect what we normally do. It just means our lighting won't really be effective til after dark.

We don't have actors, just props and a general setup, but I can see how that would suck if you have that.

They should have considered how this shift affects Halloween. Honestly.

TOTing starts at 6 here anyway, so the time change doesn't matter that much. It always starts during daylight.

I just stick to my role and sweat it out. I have my dummy in the graveyard and tomorrow night the dummy will be me. :-)

I think it will not matter, because traditionally, except for the real small TOTers, everyone goes out at dusk...no matter the time.

It's totally dark by 6:45. Historically, our biggest crowds come between 7 and 8 anyway, with the little kids coming early. Not much we can do about it but the extra daylight won't impact on what we have planned. The lighting just won't be as effective until dark.

Nothing differently here. Kids have from 6 PM to 9 PM to TOT, and thats it. I noticed tonight though it was pretty much totally dark by 6:45 PM. So it shouldn't be much of a problem here.

In the last couple years we get most of our TOTs in the first hour, I think the neighborhood flocks to our house, the most decorated! They were flocking already today and talking about how they are glad they came by today because now they won't be scared. Ugh! I wish I could put up a big black curtain to only be pulled back on Halloween! I guess we will do what we can with what is dealt. We have a cemetary that our three actors will be hanging out in, zombie, skeleton and one yet to be determined (the kids love Freddy and were asking today if he would be back - but my husband doesn't like to always do the Freddy he's good at it though and it has been a couple years). Glad I still have a few props that won't go out until late tomorrow afternoon. Maybe I will just get the fog machines going and pumping so much fog that it's blocks the light. Or maybe everyone will wait until dusk, but in the last couple years our TOTs (over 140 of em) have been very on the mark for the TOT times 6-8pm.

Well we had our TOT's last night and worked ok, first hr. of light was the largest crowds, and we had a garage maze that was shady and not bad, people were still scare to come in, I did crank 2 foggers all the way and helped a little but I was really surprise how crowded we were in the daylight and it was even better than last year, pics and video sure look better in the day and the costumes were so colorful, it was like a parade so we had a blast.
