After having our yard haunt up for weeks, we had someone steal the mask off of our gravedigger. Wig head was left in place, mask was taken, nothing else was touched, thank goodness. I had been out at 8:00 adjusting new spot lights, around 10:00 my husband went out to shut off the lights, and the mask was gone at that point. I reported it to the police, not that it was a high value item, its just the principle of it. Tonite, I pinned a laminated note to my newly masked gravedigger. It reads: BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU STEAL......WHAT SEEMS FAKE MAY BE REAL,AND IT MAY RISE UP AND MAKE YOU IT'S NEXT MEAL! at the bottom I wrote : please let everyone enjoy halloween...DONT STEAL!

I'm sorry. We too have been stolen from as well as vandalized this year. In fact, I just came inside from a 2hr vigil (hiding out on my porch). Everything was quiet except for the few cars slowing down to look at our yard. I also noticed that the nice lady across the street looked out her window every time a car slowed. So I'll sleep better tonight.

Boy there's no bigger downer than knowing fellow haunters are going through all this trouble! Keep vigilant, and keep the spirit!

    I like it!

It takes a real jerk to rip off someones Halloween decorations or anything for that matter. Same goes for the idiots who trash decorations. I hope the jerks read this thread. (Wishful thinking.)

This is why I usually put very little decorations outside... Most of my Halloween props are usually placed in the windows where you can see it from outside. I'm afraid of things being stolen or wrecked. Last year two cars threw eggs at our house as they drove by...I can imagine if there were props outside they'd have used them as a target instead.
I don't have a lot of money to spend on Halloween decorations so I have to slowly build up and I would hate to spend money on something nice and then have it stolen or wrecked! As it is I'm worried about my $20 lighted Halloween tree in the front yard.

Fortunately we haven't had anything stolen, but the boys across the street were throwing around a football and broke one of our tombstones. :P
