What the heck kind of ordinances do they use to pull this *#%! off?!

There's not even a reason. I'd love to hear what the reason is cause not even the nooses thing was enough to get that taken down. I'm willing to bet they don't even have probable cause. Probably just religious freaks putting pressure on the judge and/or the judge being one of those religious freaks to and going on a power trip.

I'd take the $500 fine out of principal. He should definitely fight this.

So, does this mean if he complains about everybody else putting up Thanksgiving/Christmas/Hanukah/Easter decorations, they will be forced to remove theirs or face fines?

You can't in any way justify telling a guy to take down his halloween display, unless you going to forbid ALL decorative displays.

The guy's had his stuff going for 20 years and one gutless anonymous complaint is enough to shut it down?

It's infuriating that someone can complain, with no legal backup whatsoever, and the towns are automatically crumbling and forcing halloweener's to pack up. So somebody is unhappy? So friggin what? Unless there is a law or ordinance on the towns books specifically forbidding it the town should tell them to suck it up. The people next door to me have 2 little barking dogs, that bark ALL THE TIME, yet - the town says they can't help me. There's no ordinance controlling barking dogs. But, if I put out a noose and hang a stuffed daschsund from a tree, a member of the Humane Society would have the town knocking at my door tomorrow.

Hell, tell them to f*** off. Let's start a collection, I'll pitch in $20 bucks to help him pay his fine.

It sounds like they told him to move it off the sidewalk/street, not take it down entirely.

I wouldnt take my stuff down if they told me to without a reason. I'd would tell them it will be taken down on november 1st and not a second sooner.

Why do we have to change for those stupied people that can't deal with Halloween decorations? When they put out there Christmas decor people don't complaine about that. And it's on his property why does it matter what he has out there?

The confusion for me is that neighbors are allowed to leave their stuff up, but because someone complained about him, he must remove it. Sounds like someone with an axe to grind. I'd be on the phone to my attorney in a heartbeat.

thats so stupid .....it is going to be there for just a short time , some people should get a life other then complain all day....it looks on a grass bed next to the sidwalk too , it is not on the sidewalk or street ......and like the journalist said why havent the other neibourghs been asked to remove theirs from the same place ????
