I was wondering how to best position my light fixtures to give the best look. I have a tree line across the back of the cemetery and thought about placing the fixtures up @12 feet and aiming them up into the canopy.
I read that some will allow the flash to illuminate the face of their grave stones.
Any thoughts or experience would be appreciated.
Thank you, Todd

i find that aiming it up in your trees give the best over all effect. makes it hard to tell where it is coming from and IMO as a big impact for very little cost. just be sure to use some sort of lighting effect instead of a solid strobe to get the best results

i have not messed with lightning yet but 12 feet up seems like it might leave too much dead space, i would put the lights at the bottom of the trees aiming up or higher in the trees aiming down it would cast some great shadows and seem more realistic, i would not worry about it washing out the gravestones real lightning would do that too, and the lightning would not be constantly on anyway.

I found that the best placement to be is where ever the most shadows can be made. The tree line sounds perfect but, put them on the back side of the trees away from the side that have the tomb stones. This way it looks like a storm is coming in the distance. Also it never looked right to me to have lightning light up the front of trees but, the props in front of them are not.
