How much candy do you guys give out and how do you distribute it.
Do you let the kids grab out of the candy bowl, or do you drop it in the bag?
Do you give out one piece of candy or a handful?
How much do you spend typically on Halloween?
I just bought a several bulk bags and cost me 38 bucks. I thought that was high, but my wife claims that normal.

It all depends on how many TOTers you get?
We make little baggies that each contain 6 or 8 small pieces of candy. A variety. We get about 200 TOTers at our haunt so we have to buy a lot. Last year it was 90 pounds of candy all total. About $180.00!
Trying to do better this year, but that was through a wholesaler last year. We'll see.

My wife usually buys about $50 worth of candy and then my mom, my sister, and my sis-in-law all bring candy. So when (or I should say IF) they make it to the porch, they get plenty.
Last year I had half of a small garbage sack left over cause they just couldn't make it to the porch or if they did they would forget to get the candy.

We have maybe 30 kids average, so I ususally tell 'em to take two pieces. This year we're also handing out little toys & stuffed animals, so depending on the crowd, we may just give one with a prize.

I usually give the ones that put effort into their costumes more. ToTers not dressed up get like 1 piece of Jolly Rancher.

TOTs over 12 get bags of chips.
Kids under 4 get little stuffed animals, or candy bags...Mom or Dad's choice.
All the rest get to spin a wheel for a a chance at big variety of goodies including small goodie bags with OTC toys and candies, stuffed animals, dollar store toys, plug-n-play games, and those HUGE movie-theater sized bars of candy.
I like giving out non-edibles since the left-overs can simply be be packed away for the next year. Plus, I can pick up great bargains any time of year. I probably spent only about $30 this year since I'm only adding to what I already have. We get about 100 TOTs.

I let them grab from a cauldron. If they don't take enough, I give them a handful. We bought candy today and spent $140.00. I will probably get some more, just to be on the safe side. We get A LOT of TOTs. But like shroomjuice, a good portion of them do not make it up to the porch and/or I have to remind them to get candy.
We go through pretty much all of it though.

We get around 40-50 TOTs.
We give regular handfuls (about 3-4 pieces) for average costumes, and BIG handfuls (up to 10 pieces) for really nice ones.
This year we're giving glow bracelets and pumpkin whistles as well as candy.
We spent about $50 on candy (chocolate and Wonka mix) and glow bracelets were $1 each and the whistles were 40¢ each.
So that's about...$120 or so??I'm a Halloween Bride! 10/31/2002
