so i'm putting off my original costume to help out with my family's haunt and my main job outside of scaring is lighting smoke in key areas.

i was curious if anyone else uses smoke or other "safe" fireworks in their haunt for a better effect or mild elaboration on their designs?

    I tried smoke.

    Once.

    A LONG time ago.

White sticks supposed to last 5 min each or some such. Back when fog machines were rare, and well beyond my price range.

    Did not go well.

Re-lighting new ones, duds, wee ones trying to pick them up, pumpkins catching fire, teenagers being teenagers.

I never did find a really good use for smoke. Too time consuming relighting it you end up either giving up the smoke or the scaring in my experience.

Stay away from smoke gernades, etc...

    Stick with fog machines.

Being a Certified Pyro Tech, I believe you'll be better off with the fog machines or dry ice... The smoke gernades smell, can cause fire, and if a kid picks one up it can burn their hands up to 3rd degree burns.

    Stay away from them.

Sorry, I should have clarified some things. The smoke bombs are NOT going near people.

i know thats just a bad idea.

the set up we have puts the smoke bombs in canisters that won't catch fire and away from the reach of little kids and teens.

part of the haunt is a player (i.e. me) running out to said containers and lighting the smoke bombs within.

we've taken precautions to prevent disaster, and tested the effect and how it looks. if conditions are right on halloween it should look really cool.

Sorry again if anyone got worried something bad would happen.
