Today we put out our witch. She sits on the railing that goes around our foyer roof and looks out over the yard/street. She's impossible to miss driving from either direction or walking down the street. I'm out in the back yard with the dog this afternoon and hear this mom yell "Hey Noah! Come quick and look at this!" Ten seconds later I hear this little voice shriek "It's a witch! It's a real witch!" The mom then says to the little boy "We'll have to come here on Halloween night for sure."
I didn't go out to visit as I was busy but I was smiling from ear to ear just hearing the excitement. That's what makes it all worthwhile, IMO.

Very creepy witch - and how wonderful to get a reaction so quickly!

Our street is a main route to a school a block away so I think the buzz will be flying tomorow. It's fun to hear the kids comments when they pass the house in the morning , or afternoon on the way home. Seems once the witch goes up, they know "it's on" again for this year.
We light it at night with a spotlight, so it shows up well even after dark.

This is absolutely the reason we only put her out early. She can't "walk off". We live in a nice neighborhood, but I don't take chances, as much as I'd love to put out the entire cemetery now. I'm gald for those who can put out a big display weeks in advance and not have things taken.

We've had this mask for over ten years. I want to say we got it at a Halloween Express. You're right; female masks, particularly nice witch masks are really scarce. I have two others; one I got from a discount bin at Spirit a few years back that is really cool, and one I got this year from Darkside Studio. The mask on the balcony witch has faded a bit from the original color due to being out in the weather for a couple weeks each year, but the latex is in perfect condition.

Great set up! I agree, hearing the kids comments is worth all the time and effort we put into this...
