O.K I know everyone is starting to get into panic mode for this year, but I am starting to panic that I have not come up with our "theme" for next year. I usually like to have it by now so that I can look at stuff that is out or for sale now and shortly after Halloween.

So far I think I might go for "Face Your Fears" and some year I want to do Black & White.

Is anyone else thinking about next year, or am I just Crazy?

    No.... we're not crazy!!!

I have enough plans down to keep us going for the next 3 years.....but of course we're just starting to build things. Next years game plan is all set.....it was suppose to happen this year but its been a crazy year for us with opening the new business and my health situation.

I'm not to unhappy tho cause I bought a lot of new things and it should make it very nice.

Not crazy at all, I have the same thoughts about buying after season, I am going to probably go with a haunted carinval theme, I have toyed with the idea for along time as my brother HATES clowns ( he is 36) and has been terrified of them since we were kids.

We did a Circus theme in 2004 we had a lot of fun with that.

That is one reason I am liking a theme of "Face Your Fears" I can use props from past years like the Clowns that did not fit in with Zombies (2005) or Hollywood (2006) or this years Murder Mystery / Lots of Spiders. I had some cool clowns and it is sad when I pulled out Halloween stuff and knew they would not be used.

The dark - You could do a dark "maze" (lots of turns, but no dead ends). You can put lengths of hose on the wall to simulate the feel of snakes, pieces of fake fur with spots of dried glue for clawed/fanged animals, stuffed gloves for clutching hands, and painted glow-in-the-dark eyes can be placed on the walls. This would make a great entrance and you can have an assistance reach out of a hidden place with a monster glove on to tap people on the shoulder as they leave. Eerie sound effects, like soft moaning, are also a must.

Alternately, you could do this or hang "body bags" (stuffed garbage bags) from the ceiling in a hallway. For added fun, stuff in those little electronic screaming Troll doll-looking things into the bags so they scream when people bump into them.

Snakes - Lots of rubber snakes and person in clutches of giant snake (puppet; made from a painted dryer hose and a carved foam head. You can even rig it up so that the head shoots water at people so they think the snake is spitting venom).

Spiders - Lots of webs, webbed-up victim, one or more giant spiders, and one of those motion-activated dropping spiders.

Death - Do a funeral (this site has some good ideas), crypt, or skeleton hallway scene.

Rats - A "rat feast" and/or "feeding frenzy" coupled with a "rat in a can". This can help make the rats look freakier. The display at the bottom of this page could also help.

Torture - This is pretty self explanatory...

Eaten alive - Do a "cannibal kitchen" type set-up. You know the drill: chainsaw, fake body parts, etc.

Clowns - Just recycle parts of your clown haunt!

Heights - A bridge over a modified bottomless pit illusion or a homemade "hellevator"

Claustrophobia - Maybe something like this could work?

We gutted the talking christmas tree to make a talking skull but our ultimate goal...and hopefully realized in 2008, would be one of those 3 axis talking skulls. But yeah, hard to come up with servos and circuit boards in holland for a reasonable price. With the dollar being so weak, I even tried having one of the scary terry boards sent to us but it contains some sort of material that doesnt pass european standards

But we haven't given up hope....just need to find a servo's for dummies book for Pieter haha
