So I went to check out the haunted house and I wanted to come back here to ask you all a question (mostly directed at the seniors).

How do you feel about crawl spaces in haunted houses..IE getting on all fours and crawling through a tunnel; would it ruin the effect if we allow you to walk around it? Also, do you think it's a good idea to have people crawl, i'm not so sure that people like that sort of thing.

What's ur opinion on this matter?

High school, junior year, Halloween costume party. My first year as a mummy. I decide to get the haunted house out of the way early. It ended up with a tunnel made out of cardboard boxes. I ended up with a bunch of mummy wrappings around my ankles.

My vote, no crawling. If anyone goes through in a costume, there is a good chance it will get messed up.

costumes are not allowed in the haunted house besides the actors so as to not have confusion and injury

Also we don't go through the crawl space we go around the side. Anyone else have a opinion on this id like to hear what you all think before I voice my reason to the person in charge of all of this.

I think you need to be very careful when having people on all fours... Some people may not be able to get down on their knees for whatever reason (injury, age, etc) You may want to offer another way around if folks cannot get on their knees. Also, depending on weather (hotter night), if people are wearing shorts or skirts, they may get a splinter or shard of wood in their skin, opening up a potential lawsuit against you. Have some options...

Also, people with smaller children may not want to leave the arms of their parent which may cause a huge "logjam" of people at that spot and people many panic and get hurt. Or cost you revenue if people are not getting through fast enough. Then if you have to turn the lights on, people want their money back.

My opinion is to keep them moving and NOT have a potential problem, even though I really like the idea.

If you do decide to do this, make people aware BEFORE they enter the haunt that they may be require to crawl on hands and knees. The idea scares me...just not in a haunted way...be careful.

hmm well it seems they have a way to get around, but I don't beleive they are telling customers that there is some areas that may involve you to crawl/shuffle through.
Thanks guys/girls for the feed back

Personally, speaking from the perspective of someone with knee problems, I'd be highly pissed if there was a crawling scene, and I couldn't get around it. However, I more than likely wouldn't be going through a Haunted House without 2 good legs to start with. I guess some folks do though. Just my thoughts on it anyway.

We went thru a big haunted Halloween attraction when I went home to visit my family in Chicago! They go to all the Halloween attractions. It was a huge place and yes there was more than one place you had to crawl thru. My Hubby at the time had 2 bad knees & there was no way he could have done that. They provided a walk around alternative in one spot and stairs where there was a slide for people to slide down.

We thought that was great to provide that. One problem.....I'm scard shitless in haunted houses and when we got to the stair part by the time we got down the stairs behind other people.....jeez my family had vanished. They promised if I agreed to go thru the haunted house they would not make me go 1st AND>>>WE WOULD STICK TOGETHER!!!! lol

Of course hubby made me go 1st into a dark dark maze.......I was mad!!! To scary for this kid!! But all in all we had a great time!

Hmm, crawlspaces. I once went underneath the crawlspace of a haunted house of legend in my hometown, one that had been around before the Civil War, which in 1965 was about 100 years old. Because this was an original house constructed at that time, the crawlspace was open and of course uncluttered with pipes and plumbing as such did not exist then. However, the ground undernath the house was strewn with a century's worth of discarded bottles, cans, and assorted trash; antiques even then. Me and my buddies crawled through that space as the sun was going down looking for "treasure" in the form of such antiques.

The ground under the house was littered with all kinds of things and I noticed upon crawling on my belly that the ground seemed sort of soft and squishy. Strange for an area dry from rainfall. I looked down beneath where I was crawling to find that I was on top of a layer of dead rats as far as the eye could see covering the ground everywhere underneath that house. As soon as I realized what I was laying on, I set a speed record for crawling on hands and knees to get the hell out of there. Long story, but if your crawlspace is filled with swirmy, squishy things albeit fake, this will add to the appeal and "excitement" of your crawlspace. At least it worked for me!

maybe have a spot were you can have those that would think it was cool to crawl thru a section of the haunt if they want. That way if a few poeple are feeling adventerous want to crawl get an extra special scare & those that don't,can't or won't just get the regular scare............
When you look in the mirror at midnight,....what looks back at you.........
