    One of my favorite Halloween items! Had my first copy back in 1965 as a fifth grader, have probably had 3 more versions over the years. In High School some friends and I dressed up and went around neighborhoods singing pumpkin carols - It was a treat when the adults would question the Christmas tunes, but finally listened to the Halloween-themed lyrics. We weren't trick-or-treating, but we were offered goodies, and even invited into Hallowen parties to perform!

    I know it has been a month since your post, but I just had to put in my 2 cents. I was looking on this forum for info on Pumpkin Carols and found only a handful of posts. I think thats is kindof sad because Pumpkin Carols have been a huge part of our family's Halloween celebrations all my life. My mom got a Peanut's book of Pumpkin Carols when she was young and we have sung from it every year. In fact, I have taken the carols from that book, added a few others from the 'net, and printed up a ton of them to send out to all our friends and family as pumpkin cards. I totally agree with Linus: "Let us not rest until the universe resounds with Pumpkin carols."
    "No one lives any nearer than town. No one will come any nearer than that...in the night...in the dark."

    Great Pumpkin Is Comin' To Town

    Oh, you better not shriek, you better not groan,
    You better not howl, you better not moan,
    Great Pumpkin is coming to town!
    He's going to find out from folks that he meets,
    Who deserves tricks and who deserves treats;
    Great Pumpkin is coming to town!
    He'll search in every pumpkin patch, haunted houses far and near;
    To see if you've been spreading gloom, or bringing lots of cheer!
    So you better not shriek, you better not groan,
    You better not howl, you better not moan;
    Great pumpkin is coming to town!!
