Been looking for some reliable sources of long range forecasts, and found the Farmer's Almanac online. They predict the following for my area this October:
October 2007
1st-3rd Mostly fair 4th-7th Dry, windy weather 8th-11th Strong disturbance sweeps east, with heavy rains for Mid-Atlantic States. Stormy, with gale-force winds (39 mph +) along New England coast 12th-15th Showers reach New York, Pennsylvania area and Northeast, accompanied by milder air. 16th-19th Dry, milder, especially New England 20th-23rd Severe thunderstorms move in from west, then clearing, unseasonably cold, widespread frost 24th-27th Fair at first, then turning unsettled 28th-31st Fair for trick or treaters
My area is Townsend, MA USA.
It looks promising for Halloween night. Doesn't mention rain.
Does anyone else have any sources for real long range weather predictions? I don't mean the standard 10 day forcast. I mean a couple months out.

It mentioned 'unseasonably cold weather with frost in most areas" for me. Not that I really think it'll happen, but I sure do miss the cold.

Hhmmm... I really don't know how anyone could know a month away what specific weather possibilities are going to be... even ten day forecasts tend to be right only half the time. A month out? I mean, we can all guess that it'll probably be colder than it is today. But rain? Snow? Not specifics, anyway.
Maybe I'm just bitter because I've had almanacs tell me 'fair' for the last three years, and ended up being rained out and/or freezing cold by 7 pm each of the last three years.
If I get rain once more, I am going to buy a gun.

They don't give October's weather for Canada, but if I look at the NorthEast of the US, it's the same as HalloweenBob........ so fair for trick or treaters!

As long as we don't have a blizzard in the middle of October like we did last year and I OK.

I'll agree with HalloweenEve, as long as we don't get snow, I'm good. The last time we did we had a drunk Dr. Frankenfurter come stumbling up the steps mumbling something about sweet transvestite treats. Not that we don't have crazies running around here all the time, but that one took the cake...

To Mike C....
I know it's all just wishful thinking, but it's nice to see it in print that at least I have a shot at decent weather.
I think that the almanacs seem better than the average weatherman any day. That still leaves them plenty of room for error, however.
By the way, is the gun for shooting yourself, or the weatherman?
