Default Halloween Snob?

I have been accused of being a "Halloween Snob".

Last week I was venting to my wife about other people's lack of imagination when it comes to Halloween.

Then. a few days ago, there was the Cardboard Coffin incident.

And yesterday, my mother was telling my wife and me about the inflatable Horse-Drawn Hearses at X-Mart, and was disappointed that we were not interested. I explained that I had seen them before and that they just wouldn't "fit in" with the rest of our decorations. In fact, lately, even places like Halloween Experience have become mostly just sources of ideas, and we rarely buy anything there other than individual items that we can use to build our own props.

Have I become a Halloween Snob? If so, am I alone, or is there an HSA (Halloween Snobbers Anonymous) somewhere out there full of people like me?

No you're not a snob! You're selective and have developed a style all your own, and eye for how things go together in an artistic manner to create the proper mood and illusion and fear you want to instill...yeah we are a different breed...not satisfied with just tossing a plastic pumpkin on the front porch...or just putting a mish mosh of things out and taking the shotgun approach to a scare....but it's refinement, not snobbery....ok, so call me a Halloween elitist! LOL
I understand, My name is Hideous and I am a Halloweenacholic. We are here for ya bro!

Wellll,

Being selective in your own choices is not snobbery. But, if you criticize other people's taste because they don't "equal" your own, that can come off a bit snobish.

I try to keep in mind that not everyone shares "our" passion for the season. Also, they may not have the funds, storage space, time, imagination, or talent to accomplish what alot of the people do on this forum. I for one definately lack in the talent department.

Sorry, no offense LV.

Witch from Canada,

Did we come from the same mold? LOL

I'm just like you with the details, and my husband is just like yours. I think he's had it up to his eyeballs with halloween planning, and it's not even Oct yet.

Everybody just has their own way, I think. I am very picky about the details also, in the stuff I buy and make. I usually can't find the 'right' thing, and end up making it.

BUT I still love to go see all the decorations, however cheesy I think they are, I still enjoy them for what they are. And I like to see everyone's different decorations, too. But my mom is always like, 'well I saw this thing for you and wasn't sure you'd like it, too cutesy'. Kind of funny.

You just have to understand most people are just happy to get what they can get, and not be too critical. In my opinion, if you get too serious about it, it stops being fun.

I am also attached to details a little too much....... My BF keeps telling me that "it's gonna be dark outside, nobody will notice"..... But I will...!!!!!

It is true that I sometimes find that people lack imagination when it comes to decorating, but what the heck, as long as they decorate and entertain the little ones....!!!

My 2 cents!

you said it , it is going to be dark nobody will notice , yes i will , i have heared that from my husband so many times lol , he is a good sport now and he understands .....and i cannot complain he puts so much time now and effort in building and setting up things for halloween .

i agree with you 100% that some poeple will just not put a little effort or time into their decor even with a small budget but yes as long as they decorate and participate in the halloween holiday for the kids thats just fine with me
