I am not sure what to do this year for halloween. Does anyone have any fun ideas other than just sitting at home watching horror movies?

That is for you to decide.
What do you like to do?"I never drink....wine. Well maybe just this once!"

To me it all depends on the weather. Haunted Houses are always a blast as well as amusment parks like 6 Flags Fright Night. Making your own haunt for the niaghboor hood is also fun. Scary movies and themed tv shows are fun to watch

Sitting at home and watching horror movies is what you do in the weeks leading UP to halloween. Part of the buildup. Best to start with the less scary ones and work up to the more disturbing ones later. Watching by candlelight or lanternlight is good for mood as well.
Closer to halloween night, visit some good commercial haunts. Find some "haunted tours," visit a graveyard.
For halloween itself, the best fun is either in going to a good costume party (if you're not putting one on yourself), or lurking in your own private haunt (my choice for this year). Set up a little graveyard--it doesn't have to be anything too elaborate--and invite your neighbors to have a chat with the resident ghost: You. Might even have a treat or two for the kids that drop by. It can be a lot of fun, especially if you're theatrically inclined.
Reading tarot cards is always a big hit at the gatherings I've attended. When I did it the first time I was subbing for the lady who was supposed to do it and then didn't show up. I turned the cards while another guest read the meanings out of a little instruction book. Then I elaborated on what the book said, making it a little darker and scarier. It was very effective. (I do it without crib notes now, of course.)
But the real key, of course, is sharing the event with others, whether strangers or friends. I do both, but my favorite is giving a case of the creeps to people who have no idea who I am. It's like doing theater, and if you get into the role you can make quite an impression. Great fun.
Have a great halloween!
