I work with a non-profit org who wants to do a free community halloween party for the local kids. We have a 2 story building, with the upstairs going to be your typical halloween party fair (bean bag toss, cake/cookies, haunted mirror, etc). Downstairs, we're thinking of doing a haunted house - but with specific instructions not to be too scary...think 6-12 year olds, & family friendly - so not many pop-out scares. Access to the down stairs will be through an outdoor elevator.
My idea is to have the lower level (four - maybe 5 - small rooms) be a dungon where all the creeps live. There will be a Evil Scientist in his labratory, a torture chaimber, a Crypt, and a Witches kitchen.
Then, in each room, the group (of 6 or less) must complete an activity to go on to the next room. In the Laboratory, for example, each member of the group must touch one of the organs the Dr. has collected. In the crypt, the crypt keeper finds them and makes the group to open a coffin ( to reveal a full size rotten corpse, complete with rotting corpse scent )
Here's where I Need some help...
In the witches kitchen, each person must sample a different potion (like love potion - rose water, or dragon blood - thin green jello (with a hint of hot pepper oil?)). I'm looking for more ideas for potions and what to put in them...nothing too terrible though.
In the Torture Chamber, I want them to do something, but no idea what. Make them throw the lever for an electic chair? Make the bravest of the group sit in an electric chair (and have the chair vibrate and have a little jolt thingy in each hand)? Or maybe they have to get a key from the other side of the room to release a prisoner while the guard is away, and the prisoner chases them out of the room? Other ideas?
Also, anyone know an easy way to make about 150' of Dungon wall (stone wall) would be handy.
Does this sound good? Thanks for any ideas!

I like the "release/get chased by the prisoner" idea, although it might be scarier for the guard to be the one suddenly reappearing and chasing the people.
The Monsterlist should have lots of stone wall tutorials. Failing that, you could always order some fabric with a stone wall pattern from a company like Shindigz.com.

You can buy castle wall paper, I think it's called 'flagstone' in both flat and corregated from several places online.
