Ahh! Haven't been on the forum in a couple of years.
I need ideas for my set up...kinda botched it up last year after an amazing previous year.
Halloween 2005 was great, we did a walk-through that was timed using guides and changing "areas" according to the switch in music (which was all edited for time).
At the end you had to run through lots of bloody sheets being chased by multiple chainsaws.
I want to do something similar this year. My goal is to disturb, but also, to make people want to come back and see it again. I like to be different each year too, but that makes it hard to pull-off a good show.
I'm not copping out and asking you guys to design it, but I'd like ideas from the vets around here
Materials/Resources:
-Chainsaws (2)
-Plastic Sheeting
-Bed Sheets
-Netting
-Blue lights, Red lights, Black lights, Strobe lights (multiple each)
-Sound System/equipment
-Building supplies (wood, etc)
-Gravestones
-Fog Machines (3)
-Lots of spray paint (any color)
-Pretty much anything else little (caution tape, etc)
I like the idea of using Death Metal type music and creepy classical too
Thanks in advance!!

Someone gave a good story here at work about a haunted house they went through.
You'll need two volunteers to help. Have one dress up in something recognizable (in this particular story, the person was at a Halloween Horror Nights type of event, so the guests were dressed in 'normal' clothes - not costumes). Anyway, have the person (a child would probably be awesome) get into the line with the other tot'ers that are about to go through the haunt.
When you get to a part that's either getting intense (louder music, chainsaws, etc) or a part that's 'dull' have the second person (who would be dressed up in a scary costume and in the haunt itself) either come running out of a dark corner or come right from the open and grab the first volunteer and carry them away kicking and screaming. They, obviously, recognize the "Tot'er volunteer" by their outfit.
Simple idea, but I think it really throws in a sense of surprise, fear, and confusion. Most people know you're not supposed to touch them when in a haunt, but if I were standing behind that person and they just get snatched away, I'd be freakin out.
As far as using the materials you have, I'll think of something and post later.

i was actually that horror nights you were talking about. it was the caretakers first year. what they did was bring grab the planted guest, take him on a stage kicking, screaming, and swinging. they had a restraining device and the caretaker acted like he was cutting him. they had a blade with fake blood and everything. the he had his "assistants" take him down and throw him in on a cart and they took them away.
was rather cool."Trick or treat" is not a greeting, it's an ultimatum ~ Spats

Might I recommend the musical stylings of Goblin? Here's a sample of their work. However, their being an Italian band makes their work somewhat hard to come by in the states, so you might want to opt for something by the Midnight Syndicate.
You'll obvious want to do a graveyard scene with the tombstones and fog machine and the strobe would be perfect for a dot room. Since you want to disturb people, I recommend having some people in costume (black hooded robes will do) slowly and silently following the "tour group" from a few yards away throughout the entire haunt. Another good trick is to set it up so that people walk down a path with another path running parallel to it. On that other path is a group of zombies, whose path eventually merges with the one the people are on...
a "Zombie Trap" and a "Tunnel of Terror" could also work with those materials and should freak people out. Come to think of it, a lot the the stuff from the site I got those ideas from seems to tie into the sort of haunt you're aiming for. Or you could always try expanding on this theme idea...
