Hi
How many of you out there do a themed Halloween display?
For instance...I was thinking of doing a display based on the Major Arcana of the Tarot, with 13 (including the fool) monsters and such.
Does anyone do this kind of thing? One year I did a graveyard names of monsters and birth/death dates...for example Larry Talbot (the wolfman) had the birth and death date of Lon Chaney Jr, etc.
Thanks, I would be interested to know your ideas and how you executed (excuse the pun) a themed display.

We always tailor our display to our Halloween Party, which has had a theme the last 9 years. Last year was pirates, so the front yard and porch were decorated like a pirate ship, with skeletons as crew, blue lights, fish netting, a captain's wheel and bell, ocean music overlayed with the Pirates of the Caribbean music. Chest of Gold with all the candy in for TOTs.
One year we did a Magickal Masquerade, so all the outside decos were witches, cauldrons, fog and such.
Another year it was "Bring Out Your Dead" so we did a cemetary in the front yard with black fencing, skeletons, torchlight, spiders, coffins, and such.
We always have our TOT night on the Friday closest to Halloween (I know, lame...but it is what it is) and then we do the party the next night (Saturday). I find the decor outside really helps to put party guests in the right frame of mind!
I really like the Tarot/Major Arcana idea. (I read tarot) However, I feel it would be lost on most of my guests....my friends are a bit on the lame side......LOLShop Smart. Shop S-Mart.

Last year I did a Pirate themed Haunt in my garage...they year before that was a mansion theme display in my garage...the year before that was a cemetery theme in my garage...
And this year...just to be a little different, I want to expand the cemetery to my front yard...
So yeah, I try to stick with a theme, as well!

LOL. Actually, once April hits I begin the preliminaries - choose a few themes and see what I can come up with over the next month as far as costumes, props, etc. Then go with the one that has the most/best ideas. Or the one that fits the budget. (Hopefully that's one and the same. LOL)
Scary, I know. My husband tolerates it at best. But hey, he knew it before he married me!
As far as ideas for the tarot theme, I guess it depends on how twisted you want to be. Obviously The Devil is self explanatory, and The Lovers could certainly open a few possibilities (murder-suicide? dominatrix-ish?) The Fool - well a Jester with really big fangs! And some scary clown makeup! (I hate clowns.) The High Priestess would be a good one - you could use a witch-type character with a sacrificial altar!
That's all I have for now. Will keep thinking! Good luck!Shop Smart. Shop S-Mart.

We are doing a pirate theme. We just put in a swimming pool this summer and a deck, so we are turning that into a pirate ship, working on the helm it's amazing so far!
