Okay, so I posted under the party section regarding hosting a party everyother year and no one responded. I come come to the decision that I am not going to have a party this year so will be really working on setting up outdoor decorations. Last year I took inspiration from one of the forumites here and dh and I made a witch with a culdron, mice, crows and webbing.
So this year I need to do more! But not sure where to go from this point. Since we on the top of a hill the yard is very minimal so I need to concentrate on the porch area. I did buy on clearance last year a 5 ft skelly so I need to work that in.
I attached a couple of pics-hopefully it worked I have not done it before. Any feedback would be great. The witch is kind of pushed to the back in the pic with my daughter, usually she is more out away from the wall.

Great pics! I love the witch's hands!
A front porch is a great stage for a display. Not sure what kind of lighting you have, but that can make a big difference. Here's a suggestion; you can light the cauldron from inside with string lights or JOL lights.

themrs , i did a witch display last year , all around the porch , had a witch and fogging cauldron , surounded with black cats and every color size pumpkins wore used (LOTS OF PUMPKINS) .....near that cauldron witch was a smaller sitting witch doing a chant , next to the front door was my talking fortune teller witch , we did a murder of crows on the porch roof etc....

here is a link to my display if it helps with ideas

A witch from Canada-
I remember seeing your pics last year; you were actually what inspired me to put some stuff out on the porch last year! I love what you do, it looks sooo cooool. If I could get my porch to look half as good as yours I would be pleased.

Themrs, nice shots of the porch. Judging by the pics your porch is about 9 x 5.
Things you have to work with. Your house is a light color and the area is small.
Use light to your advantage. Us as low of wattage white light as possible in the porch light. On the outside of your porch stretch a wall of spider webbing from ceiling to porch floor. Light this up with a strong color light from the outside of the porch. Ground up would look cool.
Use your bushes! That space between that shrub and your house is a great spot to put something. Make sure it's well lit so TOT's will see it.Last edited by putrid; 09-14-2007 at 11:10 AM. Reason: forgot to say something that whole left hand right hand thing again. LOL
The cold winter air lets me know I'm still alive. I feel it as I breath in and see it as it leaves me. It's the point in-between I'm not sure about.....
