I was doing some regular shopping at the locally wally world. I notice something I've seen before, but never took stock of. It struck me as funny the way the store had set halloween in the seasonal section. Christmas was in the garden center. The section between the two displays was their clearance area. They had no room to set out any halloween candy at this time. The powers that be in the corporate world of walmart didn't allow the stores to mark their clearance stock down enough to move it out the front door. In the race to be the first to get Christmas to masses, they over looked the fact there isn't room for any candy stock. I've read all the post about the watch for halloween stuff to appear. Some reported Christmas lights in the garden center with halloween still in the boxes on the shelves. Is it just me or is some thing strange happen this year? I hope its not norm for the future and just a miss calculation by the corporate board room. OK I'm done with my rant.![]()

I imagine the meeting surmised that if they just COMBINE both holidays, why they can make 6.7 times as much profit! I wouldn't be at all surprised if eventually Easter stuff goes on sale before Christmas day!

Halloween candy is usually in the food area at any Wal-Mart I ever worked in.
As for clearnace wal-mart has always avoided it as much as possible because they already think their retail prices are rock bottom as it is. Which is usually bull crap.

Hermit,
It's funny you posted this, because I was about to start a thread about Walmart. I went in today thru the garden section and saw wall-to-wall Christmas items (those little towns that light up) and an entire half dedicated to blow ups. Then I go on a hunt for the Halloween items and find 2 small isles worth (no candy). They had 1 isle - both sides- for costumes and 1 isle with miscellaneous crap.
Which one did you go to? I was at the Bartow walmart here in Polk county.

We had asked a WM garden center employee about two weeks ago when Halloween stuff would be out, and her was response was that she had no idea b/c the manager said their department was no longer responsible for Halloween and would jump straight to Christmas as soon as the "summer season" was over. All the Halloween stuff went out this past weekend (in what was the back to school section), and I noticed a few Christmas boxes in the back of the garden center too. But who are we to question the logic of the retail empire? LOL
