I started this new thread because I think they need a dedicated one just like the WALMART and others.

I want to know if anyone has contacts or has seen any decorations in Spirit stores and what cool stuff that they carry.

It appears that SPENCER'S are affiliated with SPIRIT yet do not carry all of what SPIRIT has.

They are slow at setting up their Halloween items due to the following 2 reasons:

1) they wanna get rid of their back to school items

2) they dont want many people capitializing on their promo cards (where u buy 50 bucks worth of stuff and they give u a 25 dollar card, which must be used by Sept 15-31). These promo cards end on Sept 9 and I have a strong feeling that their Halloween items will be set up after this date. This is why I am driving down to Washington tomorrow so I can buy some halloween stuff where a manager (a manager at a city I wont mention now because I want to get there first) is going to sell me some newly shipped items in the back of the store. I need to buy some stuff so I can get credit for these promo cards.

Spirit is owned by Spencer Gifts. While our Spirit store has been opened for a week, I stopped by spencers yesterday and they don't have anything out yet. The manager of Spirit told me that spencers had two trucks of Halloween merchandise delivered last week so my sense is it will start going up this weekend. They both carry the same stuff for the most part, however Spencers will offer good discounts up to a week before Halloween, whereas Spirit (at least in our area) won't discount anything until Halloween day or the day after.

there are some "spirit exclusive" items such as the half demon with cross and tortured man being eaten by rats that Spencer's will not carry...

Please read the promo card thing, this weekend will be too late to get these cards

I was in Spencer's on Friday and asked the guy working when their Halloween merch would be out. He told me that all the employees were supposed to come in Sunday after store closing to set it all up and that it should all be out by Monday morning. I haven't been back over there yet, though.

Actually in the past, the Spencer stores have carried the items that were suppose to only be Spirit exclusives. I use to work for Spirit, and jdubbya is correct on all counts.

I just checked out Spencers yesterday and they still had there back to school stuff. I did ask the clerk when the halloween stuff will come out. He said come back on Monday and it will be a different store...

I think my Spencer store said they'll be full blown on the 16th of this month.
I saw some merchandise already on the top shelf like masks, vultures, and a few evil clowns.
I hope to use my $25 off $50 coupons before they run out!

Spencer's in Iowa said they have their halloween items out on Spet. 16th and that they were not allowed to sell it early. So they said.

My frind is a spencers manager, and according to him the corporate policy is that they cant sell any halloween merchandise before Sept 10th. Obviously some managers ignore this rule.And the past several years, they always do the spend 50 get 25 during the halloween season as well. 2 years ago it was simply that you spent 50 and got a gift card for 25. Last year you spent 50 and got a gift card for 25, but then you had to spend another 50 to be able to redeem the card for 25, so not quite as good.

i thought I had a connection in Spencer's but it turned up unfounded...was unable to tap in the back of the store for any goods as she told me "they missed the shipment"...i think she realized that she woulda been in trouble for selling the goods while the "spend 50 and get 25 back" was on....

yes and i do remember last year's cards during october but u can claim them only after haloween was over!
