Excellent way to "Punish" the culprit.
You are a very good person. Hopefully the little guy will remember this when he wins his academy award for set design and props. He'll say, "It's all because of this guy in my neighborhood."

Glad it all worked out. I have to say it again, you're a good person!

Wasn't any reason to ruin his desire to decorate. So, I'll be having him work off the stuff by teaching him how to make molds and cast skulls. Figured he can make another mold for me, and one for himself to keep.
    What an excellent idea.
Make him return your items and work to repay the items he broke.
At the same time learn how to make his own props.
You never know what this might lead to in his future.

I am gad you found out what happened. As others have said, what a great way to handle it. I am glad his parents made him bring them back,. not every one would, He learned a valuable lesson from this. And what else could be better than learning how to make your own props,

What a great ending to a depressing incident. I hope the boy really enjoys learning to cast things. I'm sure when he see's his work adorning your yard haunt, he'll take pride!

Fantastic job of handling this...kudos to you and to the child's parents.

    UnOrthodOx,
Wow - that was a rollercoaster series of events. I am glad things will work out and you may have another convert to the dark side - decorating for Halloween. You came up with a great ending to the stolen props.
