I love autumn for all of the reasons all of you already stated.

With the heat and high humidity gone, I finally feel like getting out and doing something.
With the temp averaging 97+ with 85% humidity here for the last month or so its hard to want to get out and do anything.
Makes it kind of hard to enjoy doing something you enjoy with sweat pouring off of you.

So I'm going out this evening and do my little Rain Dance to see if I can get fall here sooner.

Isn't it funny how now in the late afternoon's and early evenings, you can just tell fall is approaching? (Even here in hot and humid Florida? LOL) Something about the way the sun sits in the sky, the clouds, it just all has that very "autumy" feeling to it. Nothing beats September through October 31st...the haunting season has begun!

I agree, right now with the late afternoon sun taking an autumn tone (though the temps haven't yet), it really gets me aching for that crisp, sunny fall weather. We get a good two months of fall (though summer temps last until late Sept.), so we make the most of it!

I love Autumn. Wish it would stay that way alot longer than it does.
You can't describe Fall any better then that!

I have been lurking this forum since July of 2006, and I really loved the thread titled "Signs of Fall" from last year, so I couldn't resist posting in this one.

As I have gotten older, I have began to appreciate and enjoy Halloween more. I now rank it higher than Christmas. Here's a list of why I enjoy this time of the year/Halloween so much (in no order):

- The cooler weather. (There always seems to be a day where all the sudden it's noticeably cooler out too)

- The smell of fireplaces burning (And there always seems to be one neighbor who starts burning their fireplace way before I would, because I do not consider it to be cold enough yet, but the smell brings out the fall feeling)

- The shorter days

- The smell of burning dust from heaters (I wonder if I am the only one who likes this smell?)

- Leaves changing colors/falling

- Halloween themed television shows/commercials

- Football

- Choosing your pumpkin and carving it

- Etc...

This is the most wonderful time of the year!

The Fall is my favorite time of the year. The weather is cooler, the leaves are changing and by the time Halloween hits it has gotten down right spooky.......AND I LOVE IT! Yards full of jackolanterns and decorative themes....makes me smile.

I think for me it is a warm and cozy, childhood memories kind of thing. Plus the whole ToTing, apple bobbing, apple cider and powdered donut kind of thing that is typical of Upstate NY kids Halloweens. At least in the 60's and 70's anyways.

I just saw another sign of fall the other day. Concord grapes just came out in the stores. That's always a big sign of Fall in NY.

Well, this week it is finally beginning to really feel like fall where I live. September began with a very nasty heat wave, but that has passed. The nights are beginning to break into high 40s (which is nothing I am sure compared to where some of you live), and some trees are beginning to get gold leaves. The morning air is clean and brisk and the nights have a cool/cold breeze. The weather is not very consistent this time of year in my neck of the woods, so this cool spell could easily be replaced with more hot weather. I hope not.

Only problem here is that warm feeling is the HOT Texas weather even through the Fall
