It's so frustrating! I live in a small town in the middle of NOWHERE and have to drive at least 2 hours in any direction to find a Sprirt Store, a Target, a Michael's ... or heck, even an Olive Garden.
I see you guys posting every day about "so-n-so has this or such-n-such has that or this place has Halloween out now".
I wanna live somewhere that has ... *sniffle* ... that has ... *sniffle* ...STUFF!!!!!!!!!!

You're not alone, Southern Belle. It's the only time of the year I'd want to live close to the city, because South Portland and Augusta are my only two choices. One's an hour away and the other is an hour and a half.
Oh, I do have a Big Lots and Target about 45 minutes away (the Target chain just came to Maine a couple years ago).
But you know, other than this time of year, I'll bet you're glad like I am to live in the boonies.
Now, if we could only get a Garden Ridge or a Menard's out here...

Definitly not alone. I have a Super Walmart and a Walgreens. That is IT. Sigh.

I did when I was a kid, in south Georgia. 1.5 hours to Albany, 1 hour to Columbus, etc...

I've always been a small town boy. Other than the shopping, I wouldn't have it any other way. My son and I simply make the out of town Halloween shopping into a pastime on my day off when he's not in school. He's in his second year of college. Sounds like you live farther out than I do. There's a wealth of goodies online, but there's nothing like being able to see it in person. You could go the way of many of the members here and make the decor yourself.
Good luck, SouthernBelle.

Yup, Middle of Nowhere. Funny thing is, there's a restaurant a town over called "The Middle of Nowhere Diner", how's that for boon-docks. But, on a bright side, we had an Old Navy in town that went out of business and guess what's there now? Spirit Halloween! How sweet is that? Before this, I had to travel 45 minutes to reach a Spirit. So don't worry, SouthernBelle. Maybe a store will go out of business next to you and a Spirit will come in next year.

nope.
Tri-college town, combined population of 50,000 plus.
Although our damn Evil-Mart still has "Back to School" crap out, no Halloween yet. School starts Tuesday, if they don't have their supplies before then, they are out of luck.

I guess sometimes it is good to live in a small town. We have young children and the crime rate is pretty low and things are pretty quiet.
But at Halloween I want "big city access". lol!"Scare me once, shame on you. Scare me twice ... you'd better run like hell."
