I'm not posting here every day, but it's great. When I come in once a week there so many new members.... Last year I posted in many Xmas forums, but they never had so many members. It seems to me, that Halloween for the major part of the people in USA is more important than Xmas. What do you think about?

For me personally halloween is much bigger than x-mas. But for the majority of people, no.

The activity here is directly proportional to how close we are to Halloween. This board really gets rocking around labor day!

Halloween is my personal favorite holiday, but Christmas is pretty much tied for first. Can't beat corny Xmas movies, cool weather, Santa, Rudolph, presents, trimmed trees, lights, families together... etc.

I love both. I think each holiday captures my youth equally and they are both very nostalgic for me. It is also nice since I have 2 kids and I get to see their eyes light up on Halloween and Christmas.

Halloween is a time for spookiness and it signals the coming winter. So many pleasing sights and sounds and I just get totally into the vibe.

Christmas is my time of thankfulness. It is a time for family and a time to celebrate the birth of my savior (I am of Christian faith). It is also a time for Santa and reigndeer too and hopefully snow!

I totally dig both holidays and I think they tie for me.

I also like both. Halloween for me is connected with autumn, pumpkins, etc. But the "classical" Halloween with Haunted Houses, etc. isn't very common here in Germany. I never saw a haunted house here. Some people like Trick and Treating and decorate their houses with pumpkins. But the really spooky halloween isn't very popular here. Christmas is for me very important, to buy gifts for my son (4 years) and see the joy in his eyes, decorating a Christmas tree, etc.

@childofthenight: It's a pity, when all people are so busy at Xmas time. Naturally it's a time of consume, but there are so many things more....

I think the big difference, at least for me, is that for Halloween you are planning something for the whole neighborhood or even the city where you live so you want to do something bigger and better every year, and for Christmas you put up the tree, string some lights on the house, maybe a santa in the yard and then you go inside and enjoy the season with your family.
I love both holidays but I gotta admit, I have way more fun turning my yard into a graveyard with ghouls popping out of the ground than I do decorating the tree!

I love both holidays, but in different ways.

Halloween for me is youthful fun & spookiness. A chance to dress up & let all the "grown up" worries of life fade for a bit.

Christmas I feel thankfulness like Coffindan said. It's a time for sharing. I donate to my favorite charities & get together with friends & family. I don't do alot of decorating (too wore out from halloween) but I like to get together with my mom & a couple of others & we bake.

I like Christmas too because I get some new Halloween stuff under the scary tree. We have a natural tree in the front room and then there is the scary Halloween/Christmas tree in the middle room. It's a 50/50 thing between my wife and I. It helps me get through the winter blues.

Halloween is pure fun for me(work, yes, obsession, yes, but fun too), a time to stretch my creative juices, and letting other people enjoy it all. Christmas is a time for reflecting on,celebrating, and being thankful for Christ's birth, spending time with family, spoiling my kids with gifts. I must say I do love decorating for Christmas, the lights outside in the snow are so beautiful, and a lit up tree at night with no other lights on , I love, memories from childhood I guess. To be perfectly honest, I get ideas for both all year around, with halloween being my biggest obsession, but Christmas is hanging in there too.
I have flying monkeys- and I'm not afraid to use them!
