Christmas is more important than Halloween because Jesus was born on Christmas and not on Halloween. It's a fact. Deal with it. If Jesus had been born on Halloween then Halloween would be more important. It's just that simple, my friend. By the way, my brother was married on Halloween. He didn't want to be married on Halloween but that was the only date available. He's not goth or anything. And his wedding didn't have a Halloween theme. Easter is also more important than Halloween, as it is when Jesus brought colored eggs back from the dead. And, later - peeps.
Yes, Christmas has it's place as an important holiday if you are religious or not. It has different meanings to different people, just as Halloween does. I am in agreement with Jack in that there are no limits, wether it's traditional, cutesy, scary, or just gore, it's all about the fun. Personaly, I would say that Halloween plays a larger role in my life. It is my hobby and something I do all year long. Bethene nailed it on the creative juices comment, we are all show-offs. The good news is we can all show-off here too!

I like both for their spirits and decorations but Halloween is just more fun. Autmun is the most beautiful season and the whole atmosphere is lovely. Sure, going to the mall in December and hearing jolly music is lovely but I'd rather spook kids while listening to the Monster Mash.
Apparently Xmas is definitely more important to one person in my neighborhood. They already put their Xmas lights out and had them on last night. I couldn't believe it.
I enjoy each holiday for the atmosphere and spirit they bring. I have my own traditions for each one, so it's difficult to pick one over the other. Christmas defiantly isn't as exciting for me anymore, just because I no longer look forward to getting that one special gift since I am now an adult. Halloween, however, has gotten better over the years. My fiancee and I have some good friends that enjoy Halloween just as much as we do, so we all have a good time with decorations and horror movie marathons. In the end, I just want to pass down my joy of each holiday to my own children someday.
Christmas has just become chaos between retail and religon it means nothing anymore but spending money and running around.
Halloween for me is creative and adventurous.
I totally agree slightlymad, the comercialism of Christmas has gotten way out of hand. I have a large family and it seems harder and harder to make the full rounds every year without hurting anyones feelings.
I do enjoy decorating for Christmas and playing Santa though. The whole season is wonderful, but between all the shopping and traveling it just seems like more actual work than fun. That's where Halloween has Christmas beat, ALL FUN!!!
Im not sure Jesus was actually born on Dec 25, but that is the day we celebrate his birth. As such, it clearly is more important by virtue.
Halloween brings a different joy, which involves costume parties, spooky decorations, and candy.
Ive never visited the xmas forums, it has never crossed my mind.
I do not think xmas should be about retail stores, and it has hurt the holy day. The only thing that gets me mad is when people try and take Christ of out the holy day.
Next we wont be able to call Halloween "Halloween"
