I like both for different reasons.
I love Halloween for it's creativity....Halloween really has no box. It has been proven that Halloween need not be scary, but can be funny and lovely.
I love Halloween because I love fall...I love the scents, the colors, the slight chill in the air.....and the Harvest! Nothing tastes better than fresh picked apples or other crops!

Christmas is for getting together with friends and family, and for doing things to make your fellow man/woman feel a little better and loved.
I love Solstice...the longest night of the year, and celebrating the return of the sun...watching the shadows become shorter and shorter on it's way to June.

Ever since I got to dress up as a ballerina, fairy princess, etc.. when I was little, Halloween has been a magical time for me.

I actually love the whole end of the year - from October through end of December. For me, we have Halloween/wedding anniversary, then my birthday (I just missed having Halloween as my b-day, dang it!), then Thanksgiving, then the build-up to Christmas and then New Year's. It's like a three-month long celebration in my house!

Halloween is the kick-off, and it's always been a personal favorite, but not until I was an adult did I really get to celebrate it the way I wanted to.

My hubby has always been a bit twisted (thank goodness!) and has loved Halloween just as much as I do - and he goes in for the creepy stuff... which I've been having a whole lot of fun with after being introduced to.

We spend all of October watching horror movies to get into the "spirit"... and Dh is a movie buff, so we have more than enough to watch several different ones every day of the month!

We do more decorations for Halloween than for Christmas, but we do still hold our own with our street. But last year we spent Christmas in SALEM, Mass., and didn't decorate. Loooooovvvvved it, and debating about doing it again this year.

We have only not decorated for Halloween one year, and that was the year we spent Halloween in New Orleans - the French Quarter rocks on Halloween!

I agree with most here - I love both holidays, but for different things. I do have to admit, though, that I have never built a Christmas prop, never thought about Christmas every day of the year and never laid such involved plans as I do for Halloween!

I love Halloween and the fall season!
Its so nice to spend a cool evening making props outside, possibly listening to the college football game on the radio. Decorating outdoors is such a blast during this time.

I like Christmas, although our Halloween-vs-Christmas decorations wouldnt show it! By the time the Christmas season rolls around, I'm usually ready to cry "uncle" on decorating! I used to go all out for Christmas decorations until the Halloween collection became out of control.

I think x-mas is more important but halloween is more fun and exiting. My favorite part about halloween is setting and scaring.

For me,I love both,I own my own gift basket business and I go to the hospital and donate childrens gift baskets to those that have to spend their holidays in the hospital,I get such joy watching them as they unwrap their baskets,I never leave with dry eyes thats for sure.

I know that when we were in Germany(frankfurt)on base we all decorated our houses, and that was back in the late 70's.
maybe if you know someone in the military they can get you some halloween decorations from the px.
just a thought.

Any love I had of the Christmas season was spoiled by working in retail for twelve years. That was twelve years of dealing with the public during the holidays and lemme tell ya, it ain't pretty! A time of peace and good will towards your fellow man...my ass...LOL Christmas seems to bring out the worst in people, at least from my experience. Don't get me wrong, I love the holiday because it's a very family oriented time of year, but other than that, blech on Christmas.

Halloween on the other hand....now that's MY kinda holiday! I've always been a huge fan of Halloween and the older I get, my love for just grows even more so.

I like both but Halloween more. Both for the cooler weather. Halloween because I get a kick out of watching the kids faces when I start working on the haunt. I watched a group of kids today pass my house four times eye balling what I was up to. Last year I knew my haunt was getting more attention when the religious people came three times in a row. Two days before, the day before and the day of Halloween. They kept giving me weird looks when I cracked up laughing at them. I wasn't trying to be mean, I just can't believe they think it's something else besides fun. I like hearing the kids say how much fun they had on Halloween. Sales on candy aren't bad either. :-)

Have you been singing, "Making Halloween" from A Nightmare Before Xmas? I have been for the last month. I get more of a kick out of Halloween.

Halloween will always be very important to me, but I guess Christmas comes in first simply because Christmas for me is mainly about family and what not. My enthusiasm for Halloween is generally only shared by me 'round these parts haha.
