The hubby and I wanted to add some toys to the candy this year for the Tot. We've thrown several ideas around, and haven't decided on anything yet.

I went by Michael's today and was browsing in the clearance section, and came upon a tube of 15 glow bracelets for $1.00. I picked up a couple of tubes, and they're in assorted colors.

And they do work - they have the hard tube that protects them until you take them out, and I just cracked one, and it's glowing it's little heart out. I was worried about buyin the more expensive ones in the plastic packs because you can't tell if they've been damaged until you open the freaking things.

So now I have to run back over tomorrow and pick up a few more tubes!

What else would be good to add?

I went crazy buying little toys by the gross from Oriental Trading and dumped them all together in a treasure chest for each kid to pick 2-3 things from the chest after they get their traditional candy. I think I spent about $40 and got about 800 items (spider rings, tattos, ghoul bubbles, game books, friendship braclets, halloween straws, glow in the dark fangs, stencils, etc) I also bought 200 glow bracelets from www.glowgrannie.com for $24.99 which includes tax & shipping. I think you can get 100 for $14.99 - I'm not sure how many you need. Hope this helps...

Skull whistles! Gotta love the sound of 300 kids blowing whistles all over the neighborhood. Drives parents nutz!

We don't have that many ToTs so we just got about 10 of the 99 cent toy packs from the Halloween area at Wal-Mart. Each pack had 6 toys in it. So we had enough to give each kid 2 toys plus candy.

Costco had special little packs of Play-Doh out, specifically for halloween treats. I think it was in the neighborhood of an 80 pack for $15-20, but I was too busy stocking up my work supplies to really get a good look, so I may be confusing the qty/price with some of the candies.

I bought some of the Costco Play-Doh when we were on holidays last month(In Prince George, British Columbia). For the 80 pack it was under $13 Canadian. I wish I had known then what a great deal it was - the packs are larger than the ones Walmart sells and waaay cheaper. I would've stocked up for next year!

Hubby and I began buying little plushy stuffed animals last November from Oriental Trading. We bought a unit every month or two (12 pieces per unit) for $12.95. They are about 5 inches tall.

Last year, I had about 20 plushies and gave them to the kids that we really upset badly and it went over so well that we decided to give out more this year.

Another thing we're doing is giving out balloons to help us with the kid-count. We bought a gross of orange and a gross of black balloons and 3 cylinders of helium.

The real trick to giving out things like that is to start buying as early as possible and watch closely for sales. Also, don't be shy about phoning the company to ask for a discount.

One of the things I like to give out is McDonald's halloween certificates. The last few years they were 12 to pack for $1 and they were for free small fries, apple pie, small soda, or Ice Cream.

    Can't beat the price!!

I got more of the bracelets from Michaels.

I figured out that I'm paying about 6 cents a bracelet - you can't beat that!
